Hi, just started to read your blog, so far I really like it. I read your post over at Simple,Green, Frugal Co-op, could you borrow a shirt, for your son, from someone? Could your Doctor give you samples for the new RX? (just to hold you over) I agree that sometimes being frugal is a hard job, not alot of fun, especially when the cost of everything continues to go up but the amount of money you have to spend doesn’t. Hang in there!

This was me when I was younger, with kids and a busy house.Sometimes the money ran out before the grocery shopping was finished. I pinched pennies and cut corners all over the place.It was just our way of life and I think I got used to it. When my sons were older and I went back to work full time, I went to part-time hours after 4 years- there was so much more to life than making money.
I think that thrifty habits will always wear well…..it’s what gets us through when times are tougher.
I would be questioning the school about some of their requirements though.

Forced frugality is not fun. Sometimes juggling Peter to pay Paul is wearing. However I find your views and way of life so refreshing. You remain an inspiration.

I agree that it’s great to be frugal but sometimes hard not to want to spend money on whatever it is you want to spend money on. I am just thankful, as you obviously are, that your previous frugal ways are now standing you in good stead, and I’m also thankful that we have food in the fridge, a roof over our head and a good life. Hubby is not working currently and he stresses a bit about the fact that he’s not bringing in a wage but we manage fine on mine! I have printed out a saying for both of our wallets and for the door of my home office ‘there is always enough’ and I believe it to be so true!

I’m also a new mum, two kids in my care, a temporary arrangement for both, this afternoon the coordinator rang to tell me that B. had skipped school, this same evening I had to drive over an hour to get to E’s school for “Open Night”. I don’t really know what I’m doing even though I give as much as I can. I read your blog last year and I was so envious at what you were embarking upon. And it’s pleasing to know I have my own challenge before me- one which I chose, one which I wanted and one which leaves me with almost no time to think about what I’m doing. Your blogs this week have helped me to keep believing in what I’m doing even though it’s sheer hard work so much of the time and I wonder if I’m crazy for doing this!!!
