Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

Nature, Help Me.
I’ve been discombobulated as of late. Why? I miss nature. I crave a day, a week, a season in the outdoors – walking, hiking, breathing, smelling, seeing what grows naturally. My soul yearns for it. I feel closer to God when I’m … Continue reading
Oh Weekend, We Welcome You
What a week! I’m sure there are echoes all around the world of so many of us sighing with relief the weekend is nigh. Breathe in. Breathe out. It’s here. Our week was filled with the calamity of moving on your own with … Continue reading
November, Home…
I can hardly believe the calendar has landed on November. October seemed all together too short, though it peppered with many happy things, there were also many, many challenges. I felt somewhat conflicted as it is my favourite time of … Continue reading
I Wish
I made a big mistake as a mother this weekend, I told my children to stop saying “I wish”. I was trying to deal with my son’s consumer driven personality (prior to joining our family, he was in a family … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sundays
This photo has nothing to do with today, but since my camera had no batteries, I declared it would do! I decided to write a reclaimed, simple sunday post today, not because I felt relaxed (my arthritis is so so … Continue reading
Thankful Tuesday – Sunday Rhythm
I am not normally a routined sort of person, I grew up with a lot of routine and structure and well, busyness. I’m quite sure I packed 40 years into my first decade, which perhaps explains my level of exhaustion. As … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sunday
I think it’s safe to say we all needed a bit of emotional reprieve this weekend, I’m not sure that’s exactly what happened for me, but for the girls there’s been napping in favourite places, catnip loving and cooked sausages … Continue reading
Weekending
One plan – clean!!! My kitchen looks like it is being lived in by the Gruffalo, my bed needs making, the floors need sweeping & washing (probably by hand), my laundry that has been outside for three days and rained … Continue reading
All About Your Heart
As you all know, I leave this week to volunteer in an orphanage with dying babies and children. While some of my time will be giving more specialist help, a lot of my time will be simply holding, rocking and … Continue reading
