Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

Reclaiming Simple Sundays
Today the busyness of the last couple of weeks hit me, I felt a bit like the walking dead. Cautious of the materialism of “holidays” I continued with a low-key “celebration” of Easter, treating it as more of a typical Sunday with some added conversation … Continue reading
Taking It Slowly And Gently
We’ve had a slow and gentle couple of days. And it has been wonderful, needed, and a peek at what else is to come. There have been games played, books read, walks on the waterfront and a bit of school … Continue reading
Sometimes The Weeks Catch You
It was one of those weeks, this week. It didn’t feel like a friend, but now that I’m sitting here, by candle-light, reflecting on some of the good that happened this week, I feel like I’m breathing again and ready … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sundays
It feels good, very very good, to once again be approaching Sundays with the belief they need reclaiming. It was with me from the moment I got out of bed this morning “make this one different, Frugal Trenches. Go back … Continue reading
Nature, Help Me.
I’ve been discombobulated as of late. Why? I miss nature. I crave a day, a week, a season in the outdoors – walking, hiking, breathing, smelling, seeing what grows naturally. My soul yearns for it. I feel closer to God when I’m … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sundays
This photo has nothing to do with today, but since my camera had no batteries, I declared it would do! I decided to write a reclaimed, simple sunday post today, not because I felt relaxed (my arthritis is so so … Continue reading
Thankful Tuesday – Sunday Rhythm
I am not normally a routined sort of person, I grew up with a lot of routine and structure and well, busyness. I’m quite sure I packed 40 years into my first decade, which perhaps explains my level of exhaustion. As … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sunday
I think it’s safe to say we all needed a bit of emotional reprieve this weekend, I’m not sure that’s exactly what happened for me, but for the girls there’s been napping in favourite places, catnip loving and cooked sausages … Continue reading
Reclaiming Simple Sundays & Weekends
This weekend after realizing just how far I’ve strayed, I pulled back and focused on what I can do here and now to feed my soul and indulged a little in the art of nourishing. There was cook book reading & … Continue reading
