Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

Month Of Nothing: Thoughts Part II
I mentioned earlier today that I would be back to give this month of nothing some time, some space to somehow articulate what I learned, and in the coming days, what we gained from the experience. I’m tired and one … Continue reading
Day 22 & 23: Month of Nothing
I could get used to being home. Yesterday, I was a tad discombobulated again – thoughts of work looming and not enough sleep, or water, plus a little bit of missing England creeped in {quite a bit in fact!}. We … Continue reading
52 Weeks of Happiness: Week Three
So much about this week made me understand where my happiness lies. It is found in simplicity. In sitting at the table and colouring with my children. Going for hikes. Cuddling in the morning. Reading stories. Making good food for … Continue reading
Day 19: Month of Nothing – Glorious Saturdays
Saturdays. They are my favourite day of the week. If I could have a heaven-filled life here on earth, every day would be a Saturday. They haven’t always been this glorious, its funny what just re-arranging a few commitments can … Continue reading
Day 18: Month of Nothing
I am not sure how I’ll ever pull myself away. Yesterday was one of those days where I wished time could stand still. There were no luxuries, a small shop was finished {being sick is expensive!}, but we had the … Continue reading
Exhaling
Did you all hear it? It was so deep and profound that I’m quite certainĀ it could be heard as far-reaching as Berlin {and the cough that followed that sigh, could certainly be heard as far as Beijing!}. I am now … Continue reading
Day 13, 14, 15: Month Of Nothing
Thank you for all the lovely wishes that I recover from my pneumonia. I’ve had a better day today than I thought {was so very very ill the last two days} namely because I drank lots of fluids and took … Continue reading
52 Weeks of Happiness: Week Two
Within seconds of publishing the last post, I was stuck with flu {that makes two rounds of the flu in the last six weeks!}. Never a better time to look for happiness! This week had highs and lows. Both of … Continue reading
52 Weeks Of Happiness: Week One
I can’t remember where I first heard of this idea, but it seemed like a great way to notice and appreciate the beauty in life, while being fully aware the busyness of life may prevent one from committing to finding … Continue reading
