Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

All In A Week
The week has been beautiful, not without its challenges, but beautiful nonetheless. We had a brief hospital visit where my son was diagnosed with tourette’s syndrome. And while I do occasionally worry about the growing number of special needs, there … Continue reading
Our Community Garden Year 1 – With Children

52 Weeks of Happiness: Week Eleven
There is much happiness each week, but this week I’ve noticed a spring in my step. Slowly but surely my arthritis is getting better, at least until around 9 pm each day when my body lets me know it has … Continue reading
Things Happening At Our House
There has been a lot of outside time in these parts. I made a decision for our family that time out doors/time in nature was/is a main priority. And we’ve not looked back. I think we are all better for … Continue reading
Reminders Of Good
This morning, we were all up early, by 5. Yes, 5. I admit I quite like early mornings, though I prefer them to have a little bit more peace than this morning greeted us with: a snow storm (& drive … Continue reading
Thankful Tuesday
There is nothing like thinking about stressful things, to make one {or at least me} also feel a huge sense of gratitude and blessings. For some that may sound strange, but I often find beauty in challenges and a bit … Continue reading
52 Weeks Of Happiness: Week 5
On February 1st I thought my treat for completing the challenge, would be a nice coffee out, especially after watching an episode of Location, Location, Location and missing British cups of tea in nice cafes. Only February 1st came and … Continue reading
Month Of Nothing: Thoughts Part II
I mentioned earlier today that I would be back to give this month of nothing some time, some space to somehow articulate what I learned, and in the coming days, what we gained from the experience. I’m tired and one … Continue reading
