Today felt luxurious, for the tea with a friend {during my son’s physical activity session} turned into a bit of treat, something I wasn’t sure whether to accept, but as these things happen so rarely and the cake was actually for my girl, I obliged. It wasn’t particularly difficult, though I have to say, I would have been just as happy sitting in someone’s living room to have a natter. And I probably would have been warmer too.
This month is teaching me so much, I really don’t need what so many see as “pick me ups”. It is as though the slowness, simplicity and lack of spending this month has re-set my clock to a pace and tempo that works for me. Our life is much more home-based, and because of this month even more-so, which is how I like it. We have a small community who come into our home and make our lives richer, people from very different walks of life, and in different stages of their lives, and yet there is a common thread – concern, compassion, love, investment with time.
Today we had my son’s physical activity sessions {the third week in and all is calm and well} and make-up swim classes. Apart from that all we did was bake and cook together, colour, read, pray and play games. So simple, so good for the soul. I notice as the month goes on, and I have more time as I’m off work, our meals are becoming more simple and wholesome too. Today was beans on toast with clementines for brunch, banana bread, a banana, almonds and apples for lunch and a roast for dinner {a meat replacement, yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, roasted carrots and parsnips, peas and brussel sprouts}. It was followed by mince tarts and cups of tea.
Yes, twenty days in and I’m turning off the noise, gathering the little ones around and cozying up. Tomorrow will be back to home educating and maybe a hike, for everything else can wait.
Resisted: A piece of cake for myself {but I was perfectly happy to do so!}.
Happy Reclaiming Simple Sunday. I hope yours was grand.

What a cozy picture.
Yes, it is, isn’t it?
It’s true about the ‘pick me ups’. I had an annoying outing today when I went to get my haircut and would normally immediately look for chocolate to make me feel better, but I’m glad to say I resisted (not hard really when I think about it) and just came on home. Felt better then
xx
Well done you, Judy! That’s a huge accomplishment! Chocolate is so very very enticing!
sounds lovely
Yes, it was!
I absolutely LOVE reading about your days this month. Turning off the noise sounds so decadent, almost as decadent as that delicious chocolate dessert!
I may have to do this in February.
Wow, thanks Sharon. I always write them never sure anyone is interested in our mundane life. So it is nice to hear! Best wishes if you do it in February. Let me know, I’d love to read.
