Goals For January 1-6

Happy New Year! I feel like all I’ve done this week is make lists, but I have to say as we had our family meeting this morning to discuss our Month of Nothing and our weekly goals it felt really good – like we were on track! This morning I’m posting this week’s goals and later I’ll do a post on our first day of our Month of Nothing. For everyone joining us, I hope day one goes well!

One of the reason I wrote such detailed 2013 goals was because I want to be able to break them down into monthly goals, therefore making it easier to accomplish them (or at least that is the theory!). Then I thought about what worked last year and what didn’t and remembered part of the problem was I posted monthly goals on the blog, but my most successful months were because I stuck to weekly goals written on a sheet in my kitchen. I think the monthly goals were too easy to forget, whereas weekly goals were continually at the front of my mind. So this year I’m going to aim to post a weekly goal list at the beginning of the week and update it before setting the next week’s goals. All my goals directly relate to the yearly goals and it already makes me feel happy thinking how much closer to accomplishing our 2013 goals we will be at the end of this week and month. This is also a very exciting month for us as it is our “month of nothing” aka no excess! We are all excited to begin!

  1. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcomes you reach by the end of the month. Good luck.

love the idea of yearly goals and breaking them down. Mind if I steal it? Got a lot of goals I’d like to accomplish this year and it seems a bit overwhelming.

I don’t consider it stealing at all, use the idea as much as you wish! I so agree re: overwhelming, but weekly already feels much better for me!

Hi, I saw ths idea and thought of you – it is from the make it and mend it site. You get a large jar or container and every time something good happens you write it down and put it in the jar. On dec 31st you open and read all the notes to remind yourselves of all the great things that have happened in the year. I find it hard sometimes to remember the positives so am going to try it too. X
