September

I can hardly believe tomorrow is September and in 4 more sleeps the little ones are back at school. In truth, I’m dreading it. I will miss our time together. I will miss the lack of stress no homework brings (though we read for 2 hrs a day, practiced math for an hour a day and studied art and geography, there is something so much less stressful about educating at home for us!).  The good news is, after being pushed to my own limits and thinking about my children’s needs, I’ve been able to get agreement from my work that I can work my hours differently, meaning 4 days a week I’ll be able to finish by 3:15 so that the children don’t need to go to after school club. Then one day a week my mum will watch them after school so I can work a longer day and then take an exercise class in the evening. It all feels like it is coming together. Horrah!

August was a great month. I’ve updated the post about August goals to show my progression in plugging away at them, and I have some big goals for September, too. First on the list is finishing a few of August’s goals that remain untouched – ahem!

Today I met with the children’s teacher  (they will be in a split class, so this year will be in the same class for September – January) and talked through my goals for them this academic year. I feel so much more confident as a mother now, I can articulate my children’s needs with ease and don’t make apologies for who they are. Realizing this today was huge for me and something I am proud of – I tend to be too meek and this needed to change. Progress all round me thinks ;)

Back to September, this is going to be a good month. It is our second school year as a family. The anniversary of our being together a year. New hobbies and interests will be explored. Oh my. Goals for this month?

I’m happy for you that it all comes together. Your goals look impressive, but what’s even more impressive, is how many August goals you reached. Wishing you a beautiful, balanced September, filled with the joys and laughter time spent together.

I am very impressed with how much you accomplished in August. You work full time and mother to children with special needs. You are a hero in my books!
