I’m taking a break from the normal Frugal Friday & Help A Family Friday because of poor internet connection, so instead I thought I’d share my first real knitting creation for a friend’s beautiful baby! Some of my friends I had lunch with the other day said I was too trendy to knit (you know cause I’m like Charlize & Kate!) but honestly I think I’m too trendy not to knit. Plus when you actually, finally make something that is blog worthy after a decade a year or so trying to learn, you get to share it with your blog mates and they ooh and aaah over it. Right
Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

It’s beautiful! Well done
And you’re right, knitting is for winners!
xx
So glad you think so! You hereby are inducted into the FT Trendy group!
Wow! That’s so great- how long did it take you? I enjoy knitting but you’re right it does take a long time. I also enjoy crochet and lace making. I’m making a double throw for our bed at the moment by butterfly looming. I reckon it will take about 70 hours! Wish me luck!
Honestly, in the end it didn’t take too long (although I pulled it out a few times and began from scratch), my biggest problem is I can’t fix mistakes (my mum fixed a few for me) but I reckon it took a good month!
Absolutely right indeed, it’s beautiful! Well done you!
And knitting probably is pretty trendy these days – the world is finally catching up with those of us who’ve know just how cool it is for decades
x
lol so true! I’m in a whole other “trendy” circle to my friends! lol My trendy = knitting, fireplaces, long country walks, walking on the beach!
Just brilliant….this will be like when I finally bake a decent loaf of bread and put it on my blog
…well done x
lol I’ll cheer you on (once I can read blogger again!)
That’s beautiful FT – I remember a time when you were a little trepidatious (is that a word?) about knitting.
Well done.
Scared out of my mind more like! Thank you for the continued encouragement, it really helped!
It’s gorgeous!! Great job!
Soon you will be makes socks and sweaters… the list is endless!
I can only knit scarves
I’m not sure I’ll ever make it to anything with shape!
Scarves sound good tho! You should post some pics! Sorry I can’t read your blog at the mo, can’t access blogger or reader!
Well done! What a treasure for this little one.
Thanks! I’m now scared to start the next one since my mum isn’t here to fix it when I make 10000002 mistakes!
Very nice, it’s so pretty! Great job for persevering. Now you should give crochet a try
I better master knitting first, I’m afraid I still need a lot of help! lol
OOOOooooooooooooooooooH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Wow, this is really lovely. It looks so soft and cuddly for a little baby!
I’m glad you’re ok. Your week sounds great, but I was worried with nothing from you who normally post often.
Please pray for me, Julie. I have a medical problem at the moment.
So glad you like it! My name isn’t Julie (although I do love that name!) and I’ll be praying! I’ll visit your blog this weekend!
Beautiful colours and nicely done
I love it
and you said you werent crafty…
Love the colors! And the stripes.
Ooh, it’s lovely, I love the colours, I posted my first ever baby booties that I knit for my friend on my blog last month- so I understand the need to share creations that you are proud of!
Knitting is trendy; wikipedia claims Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz are knitters, so we are in some good company!
I could so see myself as a friend of Julia’s LOL ;0)
Aaah!! It is beautiful!!!
i do love it! how cheerful! what a lucky baby!
Woohoo!!! A project to be proud of, for sure…a lovely heirloom to be treasured!
Knitting is definitely trendy, but more importantly, it’s relaxing, fun and creative. Great blanket! Love the colors!
That is terrific. I could never in a million years do so much neat knitting.
Love the colours, bet the gift was very well received.
Thank you for the emails about the health info. It was kind of you to send them on.
Lisa x
You did a great job! I’ve been knitting for about 2 years and baby items are a great way to learn and create something beautiful at the same time. My 2 daughters just had babies last year and both got baby blankets, hats and other knitted things. It was nice seeing something I made be put to good use.
I absolutely love your blog. It has inspired me to be financially accountable..fingers crossed:) Wish I could knit. That looks gorgeous!
Love your blog. Tried to leave a nice long comment, but it wouldn’t post.
What a lovely blanket! Well done!
I agree that knitters are trendy – I’ve only been knitting for a year but I like the idea of being able to call myself trendy! lol!
I am oohing and aaahing with much admiration – that’s soooo pretty.
A friend offered to teach me to knit the other day but I’m just not sure when I can fit the lessons in – also will she be able to succeed where both my nan and my mum failed?!
I guess there’s no harm trying.
My mum could not teach me to knit, she would get so frustrated with me, so please hang in there!!!
Oh my. This is lovely – good colour choices FT!
its lovely…I love to knit..
All us cool kids are knitters!!!
LOVE the blanket – great job!
Ohhh Ahhhh that’s wonderful. I love the colours. Knitting is so fulfilling, when I feel as though I dont accomplish much that lasts, ie cleaning, I knit something and its done. I dont ever have to redo it. Its a great feeling
Knitting is my lifelong foe.
Congrats on defeating the enemy, it’s a gorgeous creation!
Dear FT, I’ve been missing you! Hope your internet is sorted out and all is well….I love the colors in this blanket.
Hello FT!
I miss you too… Hope all is well. : )
Yes I’m missing you too, hope all is okay
Hello

Hope that everything is well and you are gazing out at the lake, in deep thought, relaxed and refreshed.
Take care.
