Knitting Is Trendy

I’m taking a break from the normal Frugal Friday & Help A Family Friday because of poor internet connection, so instead I thought I’d share my first real knitting creation for a friend’s beautiful baby! Some of my friends I had lunch with the other day said I was too trendy to knit (you know cause I’m like Charlize & Kate!) but honestly I think I’m too trendy not to knit.  Plus when you actually, finally make something that is blog worthy after a decade a year or so trying to learn, you get to share it with your blog mates and they ooh and aaah over it. Right ;)

    It’s beautiful! Well done :)

And you’re right, knitting is for winners! ;) xx

  2. Wow! That’s so great- how long did it take you? I enjoy knitting but you’re right it does take a long time. I also enjoy crochet and lace making. I’m making a double throw for our bed at the moment by butterfly looming. I reckon it will take about 70 hours! Wish me luck! :)

Honestly, in the end it didn’t take too long (although I pulled it out a few times and began from scratch), my biggest problem is I can’t fix mistakes (my mum fixed a few for me) but I reckon it took a good month!

  3. Jenni says:

Absolutely right indeed, it’s beautiful! Well done you!

And knitting probably is pretty trendy these days – the world is finally catching up with those of us who’ve know just how cool it is for decades ;)

You did a great job! I’ve been knitting for about 2 years and baby items are a great way to learn and create something beautiful at the same time. My 2 daughters just had babies last year and both got baby blankets, hats and other knitted things. It was nice seeing something I made be put to good use.

A friend offered to teach me to knit the other day but I’m just not sure when I can fit the lessons in – also will she be able to succeed where both my nan and my mum failed?!
I guess there’s no harm trying.
