Ten Reasons To Eat Organic Dairy & Meat

Firstly last night 240 organic peaches were delivered to the house, not for me, but I do know what they cost. In the UK, at the cheapest rate I’ve ever seen them they would work out to about £70 ($110). Guess how much they cost here?

I thought this article entitled Top Ten Eco-Friendly Reasons to Buy Organic Meat & Dairy was particularly good.

Generally I try to buy organic dairy & meat (when I eat it), plus organic strawberries and any nut products (including peanut butter) based on another article I read!

Do you buy organic? What do you prioritize?

I buy organic and free-range chicken (and red meat, on the rare occasion that I buy it).

With fruit and veg, I buy organic if the choice is UK organic or UK non-organic. However, I will also choose to buy non-organic if it means supporting a third world farmer (I’m not a huge advocate of the ‘local eating’ argument with regard to food shopping).

The price of organic food ment that it was out of my reach. I am lucky though and live on 5 acres so now I grow my fruit and vegies and this year I have grown my own beef and lamb. I have my own chickens so organic free range eggs are also on the menu. This means I have save thousands and this helped my pay off my mortage. So good all round

I always buy local/free range/organic eggs & beef. I don’t eat any dairy, but just buy regular jugs of milk for the kids. Fruits & veggies are hit & miss… I’d say I prob buy 1/2 of my produce organic.

I try to eat organic whenever I can but sometimes it’s hard to find organic chicken and beef. I have been able to find pasture raised antibiotic free beef which I try to buy. Fruit can be difficult too except for apples but then they are grainy or have bad spots, at least the grocery store apples. We don’t have much of a selection in the fruit department. I have been able to grow my own veggies this summer totally organic. The rest of the fruits and veggies I try to buy at local farmer’s markets. Sometimes all you can do is the best you can do.

I always buy organic meat, milk and flour. I need to buy more organic though.

I buy as much organic as I can find!

    $70

For animal products, like milk, eggs, cheese, butter and meat, I prioritize humane over organic, which means I get most of it locally.

For fruits and veggies, I’m just starting to break out of the conventionally-raised box. Right now I’m getting most of them at the nearest farmers’ market, where some stalls are certified organic, but many others just use as few chemicals as they can.
