Question: I spend a lot of money on various lotions, cleanser, toner and moisturizer and make-up! I wondered what your beauty regime is?”
This one made me laugh a lot! The truth is, I pretty much rely on drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, eating at least 3 fruits & 3 veg a day and sleeping 7 hours a night! On top of that I do wash my face with water before bed (I’m planning to begin making my own oatmeal soap soon!), shower in the mornings and use clinique liquid foundation (dewey smooth) and a bit of lip gloss! If I’m out for a more special occasion, I’ll add some mascara and maybe eye shadow & lipstick. I do always keep Body Shop body butter (pomegranate) and Body Shop hemp cream in my bathroom, which I use for my hands. I also remember my top 10 tips for frugal skincare and use them as needed! Honestly & truly that is it, frugal and simple which pretty much sums up most of my life choices!
What’s your beauty regime?

I’m 28 and have never worn makeup. I only use mosturizer in the winter and drink mostly water. All of this contributes to my looking almost 10 years younger and having healthy skin. I think too much emphasis is put on changing your appearance with makeup. It’s sad to me that young teens wear it and women feel naked without. Plus not buying it saves me a ton of money.
I have the exact same beauty regimen as you except the for 7 products you listed.
Beauty regimen? I just get lots of sleep, drink plenty of water and only wash my face with water.
Thats about it!
I have bought creams in the past but apparently you have to put them on your face, I can never remember and honestly everyone tells me how good my skin is. I think that the ad agencies tell us all the stuff is essential but honestly your skin needs to breath and the best think you can do for it is look after yourself and your whole body, including your skin, will look after you.
I don’t have one. I don’t even use soap on my face unless I’m taking off sunscreen, or makeup after a performance! I do have a nice butter bar for my hands in the winter.
But yes– water + washcloth = success?
Shower every morning and Body Shop Coconut Butter; water, fruit, and walking.
I use foundation and mascara if I’m going anywhere ‘nice’
No beauty regime at all, other than attempting to drink plenty of water and get a few hours’ kip every night. I don’t own a single item of make-up and wouldn’t know how to put it on if I did! This isn’t out of principle, I’m just lazy
Before my wedding I decided to get the first facial of my life done professionally. They kept asking me how my skin looked so good (not something I had ever considered! it gets spotty, oily, plenty of moles etc etc) and couldn’t believe it when I said, “nothing”.
I mentioned this to my friends, who laughed and said I could pull off never wearing make-up because my skin was good too.. to which I had to hint that maybe make-up causes the problems, not solves them. They insisted that they can’t go out without putting their “face” on. Each to their own!
As an Aesthetican in training all I can say is sunscreen. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen! You can still get tan, you’re just blocking out those harmful UVA and UVB rays that go into your dermis! It will keep you looking younger as well. I recommend getting your own Aesthetician so they can help you with a skincare regimen. Go to a beauty school – we’re a lot cheaper and have awesome instructors. Well most of the time.
I love that it made you laugh, I think it just shows how you are on a different wave length to others who think that you need all this time & money or even concern about looks! Great tips!
I use water only 95% of the time. Once a week or so I use Lush Angels on Bare Skin, though when the current pot runs out I’m going to try making my own. I use a fairly plain cocoa-butter based moisturiser only when needed (when my skin feels dry or rough). Foundation – maybe one day a week?? Other makeup – only on a rare night out.
I’ve never liked wearing makeup, all that gunk on your skin, yuck!
