Ways You Can Help?

I know an orphange in need of baby clothing, books, toys, bumboo seats, baby carriers and any shippable baby gear! Babies in orphanages have often spent a long time lying on their backs in cots without proper stimulation and so end up quiet behind their peers. The great news is they can catch up and with a few donations HUGE strides can be made!!

I know the people who read this blog have large hearts, if you’d be willing to buy or donate some children’s books (second-hand is fine!!), rattles and baby toys and clothing or equipment, could you please get in touch? Even spending £2 ($4) on books at a second-hand or charity shop would make a huge difference in children’s lives! I and the babies would thank you greatly :)

You can leave a comment or email me at frugaltrenches @ yahoo . com (remove spaces!) And I should point out the above baby is not from an orphanage!!

    How do I help?

    • Frugal Trenches says:

Hi Sharron. If you have any or could buy baby clothing, books, toys for infants, or have any baby carriers or bumboo baby seats, any of those are needed. Thank you for thinking of these children :)

  2. Molly W says:

have you thought of contacting the ladies over @ Craft Hope?

  3. Joyful says:

Question – Do you ship the goods or does an organization in UK do it?

  4. rachel says:

I definitely want to help! Can you send me shipping details? I can send some kids’ books, and will they want knitted things (climate?) because I have a ton of scrap yarn sitting around waiting to be knit into hats, mittens, blankets, teddybears etc: I have been on the lookout for a project like this to direct that energy to! xxx

  5. Joyful says:

HI FT, I wasn’t actually thinking of shipping anything. I find that isn’t very frugal from Canada. I’ve tried it with needs over in Kenya where I primarily help the Missions of Hope (www.jonahsmissions.blogspot.com).

I was thinking it might work for me to give a small sum of money to the orphanage. Do you know if one can send to them via pay pal? You can send me details to my email. Thanks!

    • Frugal Trenches says:

Very true Joyful! I’ll send you their details tomorrow or Wednesday, I’m pretty sure they have paypal :) Thank you so much for your giving heart!

  6. thickethouse says:

FT, can you just post the name and address of the orphanage so we can send it there? That would be most simple and direct, I think.

And what has happened with your new job? You seemed to go on vacation right away, unless this IS part of your job. Is it?

    • Frugal Trenches says:

Thicket, thanks so much for helping! I can’t post the details of the orphanage for privacy reasons but I can send it to anyone who would like to give! I am contacting them tonight to ask them which is the best address to send things to.
Re the job. Here we get 5-7 weeks of vacation a year, when I began my job I was asked when my holidays were, it was no problem at all. In fact my colleague who began at the same time as me has already had 2 holidays. My job has nothing to do with my volunteering :)

  8. Gill says:

this is a great idea, however with the shipping costs, I think I will donate to causes in Canada.

It’s the first time I’ve commented but I’ve been reading you for a while now. Went through most of your archives… you inspired us to sponsor a child and we now sponsor a little girl from mexico.

Thanks for making giving easy and simple.

Thanks for all the great ideas.

Thanks for the time you spend writing here (I have a small family blog and I know how much time and effort you must take here).

    Love from France!
