Thankful Tuesday – On A Thursday

I took this photo while en route to volunteering overseas, the sunset was just incredible! I have so much to be thankful for this week, I am blessed indeed!

I am thankful for:

  • The fact I am no longer chasing the wind aka chasing materialism/stuff! I no longer even know who the Jones’ are!
  • The amazing people trying to help a baby I took care of, she needs urgent surgery and people around the world are trying to help which is a much needed reminder that people do care and are willing to act!
  • Three free days at the beach to spend in prayer, seeking guidance and making big decisions! Or at least I hope I’m being lead to make big decisions!!
  • Safe water out of a tap! If you live in a country where you even have water, you are blessed indeed :)
  • My friends who have supported me so much this week, both re-adjusting but also providing wise guidance and support as I decide which side of the world I’ll be in next month! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
  • The incredible, incredible, incredible experience I had volunteering overseas caring for babies who were either dying or at risk of death, it was the most wonderful blessing to be able to do this, the most wonderful honor to be there with such precious souls…
  • The wonderful turn of events since coming home
  • Good books, knitting needles & soft wool – life’s real necessities ;)
  • Scripture, which never fails to provide peace & a plan!
  • My mother, who always wants the best for me and is accepting that the choices I make about how to live even though my choices/calling/beliefs are so different to her own.
  • The fact I really and truly love life;  it is joyous, peaceful, exciting and just plain wonderful; even among the strife there is beauty in abundance!

What are you thankful for?

I am pleased to read that your mother is supportive of the life you have chosen. As parents WE want what WE feel is best for our children. It takes great parent to recognize and embrace our childrens’ true callings and support the decisions that they make as individuals.

I think in the most simple form, parents want their children to be good people. It’s nice if they are ‘successful’ according to society’s definition of ‘success’ – but isn’t that something we all need to ask ourselves? What does it mean to be ‘successful’? For me, successful is learning as much as you can and making the best use of that knowledge – sharing your skills and knowledge to make the world a better place.
Food for thought… I’ll be mulling over this one for a few days I think!

Great post, you always seem to find beauty and reasons to be thankful in so many things.
I loved hearing about your volunteering and would love to hear more.
I also can’t wait to be updated on your big decisions!

Helping people, whether through minor or major trials is always a blessing as there is more happiness in giving than receiving. Whichever way your big decision goes I am sure you will always find this type of happiness as it is your nature. Probably, because mothers know a lot more than we think, your Mother has already figured that out and want s the to give the best to you too. Which makes her a blessing too. Cherrie
