For the last few days, I have spent a lot of time in tears, or perhaps more correctly, sobbing. This is not because I am sad or depressed, it is not because I can not cope with what I’ve experienced, it is because I am so thankful. I am thankful for all the incredible blessings this trip has brought, for the questions I’ve asked myself about my character, for the faith I’ve had to draw on, for the experience of seeing a child not only survive but be cured simply with the right medication and food, $5 really does save lives. This week I have so much to be thankful for, things I hope I never ever forget…I am thankful for:
- God’s love and peace with provides comfort during the very very sad, grief stricken moments when all you can do is fall on your knees and cry and cry and cry.
- The joy of naming a baby after someone you love and are thankful the Lord provided in your life!
- The blessing of a camera – proof of the existence of a precious child.
- Safety in travel – for someone who is naturally terrified of flying and has had some horrific experiences on flights, knowing He has a plan and kept us all safe, is something to be so thankful for!
- The experience of losing everything, so I could see I gained the world.
- Working legs – Saturday I accidentally climbed 1000 meters (!) let’s just say I now know what it is like to have 1 working leg ;0)
- The endless possibilities that exist every single day – if only we are able to see just how great life is when focused on the simple life and helping others, just how full life can be, how fabulous people are and how miracles are all around us!!
- The fact I’m no longer sleep walking through life!
Blessings in abundance, found through a visit to a land far away and the teachings given through the joy of new life…
