Alone

Lone Spring lamb by peter_edmondson.

This morning I woke up at the crack of dawn to hike through the woods alone. Just me and thousands of trees, wild bunnies, a hawk and many birds, as well as God who heard many many prayers and imparted some much needed wisdom! When the hike was over, I headed to one of my favourite fields and hung out with a lone lamb. This morning the farmer saw me and came to chat, he told me he’d seen me with this lamb before and was quite amazed that this little guy came running from across the field when he saw me. Turns out the lamb is an orphan, just hearing that word made me want to scoop him up and bring him home. Instead we hung out for a bit and the farmer gave me permission to come back as often as I’d like.

Because of my life being the way it is, I’m often alone physically and emotionally. Me, Bob (the orphan lamb) and God make a perfect trio, especially at 5am! And isn’t Bob the perfect name for a lamb? Yes, just perfect!

Little Bob is so sweet, sounds wonderful to be around farm animals like that. I live in the city and miss the country!

He is so darling! I’m beginning to think you are the animal whisperer. Animals just seem to gravitate to you. That’s so neat.

What a wonderful experience of friendship you have with this little darling creature.

I had the pleasure of visiting a flock of sheep at a wool farm in my province this winter. I was pleasantly surprised at how affectionate sheep are. They are kind of like dogs in that they like their head rubbed and like to follow you around.

Sounds like you are getting to know your new surrounding well. : )

I think God was telling me to check your blog today, as I will have been married two months tomorrow but don’t know if I’ve ever felt so alone as I have since we returned from the honeymoon (my husband is my best friend, but he works far too much and I don’t feel he has time for us). That’s a good reminder to get out there anyway and find my own lamb (or its equivalent, as I live in a city). Thanks for sharing your story.
