Well the end of the month is here! In many ways this was a very long & difficult month – my car being taken off the road due to a problem with the steering wheel, many job applications, a cat which was attacked needing 3 weeks of constant care, one of the disc’s in my mum’s back slipping, a headache which has lasted almost all month and significant financial stress! And yet, it was also a time of incredible blessings – friends and readers of this blog provided money to fix my car, the cat is healing (albeit slowly), a lot more time spend at home due to the lack of car and the blessing of getting a job!
I posted some goals for the month and while many of them were more difficult to accomplish because of this difficult season, I thought I’d revisit them to see how well I did!
- Attending a minimum of two interviews – DONE!
- Spending a day on a course learning to care for donkeys – Course was postponed until April (next week!)
- Spending a day learning lambing skills – Unable to attend due to lack of car!
- Volunteering to sell daffodils for Marie Curie. – DONE!
- Running a mile for Sport Relief – Unable to attend due to lack of car!
- Reading and attending my book group! Our book this month is Winter In Madrid! – DONE!
- Swimming 25 x 10/25 – Lack of car was a major barrier!
- Going to the gym 15 x – Lack of car made it impossible!
- 20 no spending days! 25/20 – DONE! Lack of car helped!!!!
- 10 no driving days! 20/10 DONE! Again, due to lack of car it was easy!
- Packing up and taking boxes to a friend’s loft – Nope!
- Entering a short story competition – Nope!
- Applying for 10 more jobs, if needed – Not needed
- Finishing Animal Vegetable Miracle – Almost!
- Reading Two Caravans – Almost – I read a few other books instead!
- Reading Leviticus, Luke and John – Read Leviticus and Luke, working through John should be finished by the end of today!!
- House sitting for a friend – DONE!
- Making two cushion covers, four wash cloths and an apron – NONE!
- While it wasn’t a goal, I also read: The Diary of Anne Frank and Do Hard Things and am working through Middlemarch!
Part of me is a tad disappointed I didn’t accomplish more of my March goals, but in truth, considering how many very difficult days there were, I’m kind of pleased I just made it through the month!
What did you accomplish in March?

I read six books that weren’t required in any class, and the veggie burgers were delicious!
Hmm… do I want to make plans and goals for April? I’m going to have to think about this whole goal-setting/plan-making thing. It sounds like it could be really helpful.
In truth you did much more than was on your list in terms of nursing, trips to the vet, long bus trips to get to swimming, books read, etc. Go a little easy on yourself! Life is not just about getting things done! And Middlemarch is an excellent read–possibly the greatest English novel IMHO.
I think you did fantastically! you at least made progress on most of your goals, if not meeting all of them. Considering everything else you had going on that is AMAZING! Well done! xx
You did accomplish many of your important goals! Good for you. Do you have a new list for April?
I think you did extremely well considering the terrible month you have had!
And I’m loving the Sparkle idea for April, have to consider what I need to do to join in, but still have a couple of days to work it out!
You did amazingly well, FT! Good for you! And now, on to April.
I’m at chapter 10 of AVM, flying right through it. what an inspiration! Next up I’ll read Eating Animals for our local vegetarian club’s newly formed book club. I’m also reading Stones into Schools, the sequel to three cups of tea. i highly recommend it! My March goal was to have my Montessori albums completed… erm, no. but close, very.
oh … i have both the diary of anne frank (she was a montessori girl!) and middlemarch on my to-do list. mm is huge!!
I think you achieved loads considering all the events that were against you this month!
March was a bit of a failure for me in terms of my cooking goals and my non-shopping goals, but I am looking forward to April!
I think considering your set backs you have schieved so much so don’t beat yourself up about it, you did fantastic!!! Hope April is a little less traumatic and much steadier for you. Hope Kitty is doing well now and isn’t so scared and your Mum is recovering well? x
You’ve inspired me to set some goals for April big and small, including commenting on blogs instead of just reading them! I really ejnoy your blog, cheers.
Do not discount yourself. You accomplished a lot this month and you certainly had your fair share of events to deal with. You handled it with grace, put your chin up and moved ahead as you could.
looking forward to April!
+Changed my oil
+learned to give my brother b-12 shots
+applied for a job
+Supported a youth program at my church by joining a panel discussion!
Maybe if I’d had some actual goals, I could have done more.
Oh, “Do Hard Things!” I remember when that came out and I l-o-v-e-d the idea behind it. I’d be curious to know if the book lived up to expectations, in your opinion. I only listened to interviews and read a few blog reviews of it.
I think you did amazing!! I find you truly inspiring!!!
Great job!
