Reclaiming Simple Sundays

Oh I so love weekends in England – with hundreds of miles of countryside and seaside to explore, the fact that no matter where you are in England you are never more than 1 – 1 1/2 hours from the sea and thirty minutes from the countryside - what a blessing indeed!

There is no better start to a Sunday than Church and swimming! After a fabulous early morning swim, discussing all things politics with a wonderful friend 40 years my senior, we went to Dawlish - home of the black swan! We walked from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren, right along the sea; with waves crashing against the rocks and providing quite the spray! I had almost forgotten how salty sea water is! After a lovely long walk, we picked up the world’s best hot chocolate and headed home, bellies full, souls revived!

The view from the train, simply spectacular!

I hope your Sunday is simple, relaxed and reclaimed? I’m resting up now, ready for must get  things done Monday, let’s just say my list for tomorrow is looong! Last week a few of you joined in, so if anyone has a lot to get done, feel free to post your list tomorrow too :)

    Such beautiful pictures:)

It sounds like you have had a lovely, relaxing and enjoyable day, with a hot chocolate to finish it off! what a perfect day!

I can’t imagine never being more than 1.5 from the sea no matter where you are. That is really something! Sounds like you had a lovely Sunday :-)

Yes it is, it is wonderful that it is free, healthy and so readily available, but do you know I have work friends who’ve never been to the seaside, or have only seen it once or twice? I will never understand…

Sounds lovely and your views are so impressive. I’m rural country and love seeing the farms and woods. We travel along a country highway on our way to church and at times the beauty of it takes my breath away.

Wonderful post. I intend to take away from it the intent and reclaim Sundays again.

Last year we had a holiday in the Outer Hebrides and Sundays are really special there, no shops open at all, no petrol stations open, play parks are closed and everyone goes to church. It was lovely and so restful and peaceful.
Since we came back in June I haven’t been in a shop on a Sunday and we have properly relaxed after church and Sunday family lunch.
I agree with you on this one, lets keep Sunday special.

Yes, it’s wonderful isn’t it? I started reclaiming Sundays a while ago and just love them now, whereas before I dreaded them and what they stood for – Mondays!

I have always dreamed of living in England, in a little village by the sea..Sadly i wont, but, I can day dream of my little cottage by the sea in England…Oh i can dream and what a beautiful dream it is..In my dream, i even furnish my home, open the windows and breathe in the sea air, while knitting in a comfortable chair..
    oh, i can dream..

  6. Jennie says:

Tomorrow, I need to 1. finish my shawl (only eight rows left to knit, yay!),
    2. find out if I have the yarn for the matching wristies,
    3. deep clean my kitchen surfaces and tiles,
    4. write a food shopping list for Tuesday,
    5. practise my saxophone,
    6. clear the laundry that needs washing and drying,
    7. remember to get the kids from school (!)
    8. do a meal plan for the week
    9. write my blog post
    10. phone my parents
    11. update my projects page on Ravelry

So a nice busy day to keep me out of trouble! Then I can relax on Tuesday, and spend the day with my mother without feeling guilty about not doing much housework!
