Remembering the feeling of being at home; strolling through Central Park, sipping coffee at Dean & Deluca, visiting museums, galleries and exhibits and gazing at art which speaks to my soul, enjoying sweet treats from Magnolia Bakery, soaking in the sun while reading the New York Times, finding niches hidden in the city, feeling at home mind, body & soul. New York moments are simply some of the best moments.
Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

You know, I’ve never been to NY City before, close quite a few times, but never actually been there. My dad grew up there though, I really need to go.
Oooh Jennifer, I really recommend it. It would be neat if you could see where he grew up and find the house!

Love.
I want to go back again, just looking at those pictures. This time, preferably when it’s warmer
I’ve been in April, May, December and Jan. I was very blessed last year because it was cold December 31 and then cool Jan 1-5!
Hello! The one time I was in NY city I had the best ever mocha from Dean & Deluca. I know the next time I go to NY the first thing I will be doing is looking to repeat that, it truly was the best one I have ever tasted, yet!
I sadly, was not able to enjoy my first and only trip to NY, though, as I had just got off the plane there from Moscow, Russia, and I was in a daze. All I could think of was where I had just come from, what I saw, and it was very hard to enjoy myself at that moment. I never shopped or anything while in NY! My brain was still in russia, and just couldn’t transition to such a different environment! I do hope to visit again with a very different mindset!
I hope you get to go back! I think M would LOVE it!
love the picture of the fence
thanks Marissa!
I so love NY-my favorite fantasy is winning lotto and being able to purchase an apartment there to go when ever I want! I live 2 hours away and do not get there as much as I would like. It is such a special place.
Great photos. I live very close to the church you photographed. I love this city. It has it’s stresses, for sure, but I can’t imagine loving anywhere else as much as I love here. It’s so vibrant and the cultural offerings are mind boggling.
I live right outside of the city and yet don’t get in very often anymore…part of my 2010 resolutions is to go into the city a great deal more and play tourist with my ten year old.
