To celebrate 2010 I thought I’d do a post with 100 things about me, however to really get into the 20 10 spirit, I’ve included 110 things about yours truly. Pull up a chair. Get comfy. Pour that glass of wine hot chocolate and enjoy!
1. I have a love affair every time I get to plaster practice plastering a wall. Plastering a wall or er pretending, speaks to me like nothing else on earth. I seriously love it. Almost as much as I adore the great outdoors
2. People think I love baking and cooking since I do it a lot. The truth is I don’t love it, I just like giving it away and eating the good stuff. Since the good stuff is expensive in restaurants I make it.
3. I think cooking and baking is the only thing I can make. I’m a wanna be knitter. A wanna be sewer. A wanna be crocheter. A wanna be crafter. Basically I’m a groopie who wishes she could be the rock star.
4. I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with the rock star that is Chris Martin. I wish I didn’t since his teeth would put anyone off.
5. I have an incredibly unhealthy obsession with oral hygiene. I brush my teeth at least four times a day and have never shared a tooth brush nor will I ever.
6. I will be putting the “we shall never share toothbrushes” into the wedding vows.
7. I plan to elope or have a surprise wedding. As in tell people to turn up but not what for. To me, this helps you keep perspective. It isn’t about money, crazy preparations, family, friends, fuss. It’s about two people making a commitment for life with God.
8. Don’t worry I will tell the husband we are going to get married, as in the wedding won’t be a surprise to him. Although it would be kind of cool if it was.
9. Oddly enough, I hate surprises. As in hate them.
10. I do not, however, hate people. Ever. Nope. Never.
11. On the theme of Nope. Nevers. I have never accepted a marriage proposal.
12. In the Christian life you get a lot of practice saying no.
13. It is, in fact, liberating.
14. So is running through a field wearing wellies.
15. However, I can never ever find wellies that are comfy.
16. My current pair are zebra print. I can only last 42 seconds in them without discomfort.
17. By the 48 second mark, I’m in tears.
18. True love brings me to tears.
19. Or the thought of how few people find it.
20. I think people mostly fall in lust.
21. But I believe.
22. I believe in Jesus Christ.
23. My faith has grown exponentially this year.
24. I am learning about grace. And trying to live with it.
25. I feel the Holy Spirit speaking to me. Like quiet whispers in the wind.
26. I often feel called to something but don’t understand why others don’t especially if I need them in order to do what I’m called to do. Follow me?
27. Trying to just remember to trust.
28. Which is a hard thing to do.
29. I have a lot of flaws.
30. I’m trying to work on them.
31. I am blessed with the most amazing friends on the earth.
32. I do not deserve them.
33. However, I do believe I deserve Colin Firth.
34. I mean Bridget Jones aint got nothin’ on me.
35. I can relate to that film.
36. My meds for my ovaries made me gain weight.
37. I wish it would magically disappear. But it is a lesson in not being vain.
38. I do deserve that lesson.
39. But the reality is, I only need to lose just over 2 stone (about 34 pounds). Really that is nothing.
40. A pregnancy if you will.
41. I have a strong desire to birth.
42. I think birth can be romantic.
43. I’m quite alternative when it comes to birthing.
44. I’d say I’m quite alternative when it comes to most things.
45. I have an unhealthy obsession with baby names
46. I adore Octavia, Cassius and Augustus.
47. I also like Pearl and Ruby
48. Then you could say “First a Pearl then a Ruby”
49. Which sounds so cool
50. Unless you had sons.
51. I’ve always wanted to be a member of PETA.
52. Should have joined while I was a vegan.
53. I am no longer a vegan although don’t drink milk or eat eggs.
54. It’s the cheese that pulls me in.
55. I am all about cheese.
56. I am also all about Lost.
57. I was rooting for Sawyer and Kate. Now I’ve joined the the other side and want Jack with Kate.
58. I have been told many times that I look like Kate Winslet. My mum is convinced I’m a blonde version of Amy Brenneman in her Judging Amy days.
59. I believe all those people are lying.
60. I do not lie.
61. Or try my absolute best not to.
62. Sometimes things slip out, more like a joke they might think is the truth. I do clarify immediately!
63. I love Ballykissangel more than anything else ever created. I so so wanted Father Peter to leave the Priesthood and marry Assumpta. I adore the song. I adore where it was filmed. I want to live there and return to my Irish roots! It is worthwhile watching this (to see the glory) but if you only have a minute go to 1:27-2:06 (30 seconds) and tell me you didn’t get up in your seat and do the Irish gig!
64. I believe living the frugal, simple life is the best thing you can do to correct your ways fiscally.
65. Life is so much less complicated now.
66. Sometimes I want it all right now.
67. But then I remember the quiet grace that comes with waiting for what you want.
68. I can see the inside of my future home.
69. I believe your home should be a haven. A romantic place. A place where anyone would feel comfort. A place where it is easy to see love in action.
70. I delude myself into thinking I’m a minimalist.
71. Really I’m not.
72. But I try, oh so hard.
73. I’ll tell you what is hard. Learning how to quilt.
74. Not that I’ve ever tried, mind.
75. I used to find speaking difficult.
76. My nickname as a kid was mouse.
77. At the end of Year 5 Sunday School I said my first sentence of the year outloud. The teacher shouted out “the mouse speaks” and hugged me. It took me another year to speak in Sunday School.
78. I am naturally shy, but if I’m comfortable with someone I warm up instantly. And have no problem at all chattering away and not stopping! LOL
79. Some friends reading this will be surprised at how hard I have had to work on this shyness stuff. I still find it very hard to meet new people, especially friends of friends. I mean what if they don’t like me. I know I know, impossible to think anyone might not like me
80. People often think I fancy someone. I think it is my wit, or could it be my charm? In fact I am very choosy. Not for reasons of money or success, more that I look for a man I can feel at home with. For me that is rare, but let’s you know when someone is special. Works for friends too. All my closest friends I feel at home with.
81. I do, however, seriously fancy James Martin.
82. I want to be a guest/member of the public on his show.
83. I wish there was a way.
84. He has my look
85. I could quite possibly want to marry and pro-create with that man.
86. I would also want to adopt.
87. There are 147 million children in the world without legal parents.
88. Adoption is not easy process wise. But worth it in the end. It bothers me when organizations call sponsorship, adoption. It lessens what adoption is.
89. My fear of flying is pretty significant.
90. But you see I am at home in NYC and California.
91. I do the dark coat, sunglasses and Starbucks NYC look very well
92. The last time I was there I wanted to ask everyone on the street how they afford the rent.
93. I chickened out.
94. But if you know, please share.
95. I love to share.
96. I love to dance. I love to sing
97. “Spider pig, spider pig, does whatever a spiderpig does” is often released from the oral cavity
98. I think it is a deep song
99. Who knew Homer was capable of such things? Homer as in Simpson. Not Odyssey
100. My favourite quote is “happiness isn’t happiness without a violin playing goat”
101. When I am all grown up with a hub and kids, I plan to celebrate 1/2 Birthdays. I will make each person a 1/2 a cake. Ingenious I tell you.
102. I will drink Pukka Love Tea until I die.
103. I have a strong desire to go to India. One of my favourite bloggers lives there. Anyone else want to go? Of course there is a little issue called money. But I mean how cool would that be if we all went on a trip around India?
104. I plan to get a dog and name her India
105. Since the theme is India. I am currently watching/listening to this
106. I want to be an activist, a journalist, a Dr (in the developing world), an SLP, a teacher, a farmer, a photographer, a wife, a mother, a daughter of the King
107. I see colours and music/rhythm with every sound, picture, experience, expression, smell
108. I am often followed in the fields by wild animals. They want nothing more than to be chatted to, stroked, hugged.
109. Every day I do small activities to practice self-control, like forcing myself to wait an hour before I check email
110. Friends often call me the baby whisperer
And there you have it. All you ever wanted to know about Frugal Trenches. You are tagged and you and you and you and you and yes, even you!
Oh and a bonus: I just read a fabulous post on how to chose a digital camera!
Happy Weekending My Friends

These are great!
It’s fantastic to feel like I know you a bit better. Thanks for sharing, and we have a lot in common.
What a fun, lovely list.
I also really dislike cooking and baking, yet friends and family think I love it because I do so much of it at home. But, like you, I do it because I like delicious, healthy food and can’t afford the expense of not making it myself!
You’re a very good writer, did anyone ever tell you that?? Perhaps you should start a blog?? Oh that’s right, you have!!!! Very witty, very funny, very interesting!
My brothers called me Minnie Mouse (no idea why) when I was little and that sticks around till today, although strangely enough I don’t pass that around!
Cheers
Judy
Awesome. Love that you support PETA in theory. I give them money on occasion-and while I disagree with a lot of their tactics (I question their efficacy, but what do I know?), I DO think their entire point is to WAKE PEOPLE UP-and frankly, most of us need it. I eat meat (only locally, humanely raised) and see no contradiction in doing so and giving them money. They might disagree.
what a lovely list!
so many of them, i shouted “me too!” happy weekend! xx
Soooooo funny!!!!
What a fun list- I like your baby names- I knew a pair of elderly sisters called Ruby and Pearl when I was little.
My names are Meredith and Esme- but they are for my future labradors!
Oooh, interesting post. Was proud that I knew most of them already. However, strongly disagree with the PETA one, as they are very hypocritical and seem to be more concerned about getting media attention to their organization rather than their cause.
I enjoyed this list!
Not with you on the James Martin thing…each to their own I guess
Oh thank you so much for the digital camera review link back
*hugs*!
That article is great, apart from the thing about fuji cameras and xd cards. I bought my camera (the fuji f30) for about £150 when I worked for Jessops – ie I tried and tested the 100+ cameras we had in stock and that’s the one I fell for! In fact, it still sells for £100+ on ebay, 3 years on … that’s how good it is. Most digi cameras would sell for about £30 by this point!
My point is, don’t rule out a good camera because of the memory card. A card reader costs less than a fiver, or you can use the USB cable.
as for PETA, i think they’re idiots
Their tactics just annoy people and make them switch off (people don’t like preachers!). People do need to be confronted by facts but unfortunately PETA are a laughing stock for most people.
I love these kinds of list, I should do one sometime.
Loved this. Makes me want to do a list of my own…in fact I think I might do just that.
Oh and I totally agree with you about the wellies thing. Murderous things unfortunately. I love wellies SO much but they hate my ankle bones.
love, Tina xx

What a wonderful list! Especially the Colin Firth mention… I think it would be wonderful to have Synaesthesia [seeing colours when hearing sounds], and I’d recommend visiting the Vale of AVOCA [BallykissAngel set]. I’ve had a pint into Fitzgeralds. =)
I can’t get wellies that fit me =( I love simplicity and pretend to be on a minimalist mission, and I also wish I could craft! But alas.
Thanks for sharing such a fantastic list. I may just have to do one now..
Take Care
~Rose
This was hilarious–I really enjoyed it! I’ve also really enjoyed finding your blog
Your 21 suggestions for the new year are wonderful. Hope you are having a great start to 2010….
I LOVE THIS!!! I have been a blog-stalker of yours for about a year. Love all of your ideas. Love your humor. Love your outlook on life. Thanks for being a great blogger!
Always good to know someone better. I hope one day soon you will meet your soulmate and be able to have a family – God willing.
Been reading for a long long while now.
This, by far, is
The
Best
Post
Ever.
May 2010 bless you with radiant health, bring you opportunities to find joy and happiness, a year of kodak moments and more laughter than you thought possible.
FT, this is incredible. I was alternately marveling at how beautiful the sentiments were and just laughing out loud. You’re the best.
I also get Kate Winslet (or did, back in the Titanic days with the red curly hair).
The gem I’m taking away:
67. But then I remember the quiet grace that comes with waiting for what you want.
Patience is something I need more of in my life! Especially about the prospect of buying a home. I can also see it fully formed in my head. I have to hold myself back a bit and not get overly excited.
this is wonderful! and we really do need a picture … kate winslet is one of my all-time favorite actresses. so REAL!! just like you i suspect
i, too, am like an american bridget jones … who doesn’t smoke or make blue soup.
creepy when you read someone’s blog & realise you’re a lot alike
I just found your blog through google!
I also just made a blog hop post on my blog for everyone who has made a complete (or partial) list of 101 things about themselves!!
