As you wander through this troubled world, in search of all things beautiful
You can close your eyes when you’re miles away, and hear my voice like a serenade
I’ve been thinking a great deal about plans for 2010. This year I’m going to forgo the usual resolutions and instead focus on pieces of my puzzle that I hope become more fermented in who I am.
The Education of Moi
I hope to read a poem a day, if people are interested I’m happy to share. I used to hate poetry, for this reason alone I refused to study English at University. Now? Reading it feels like how love should be, gliding through the blue sky, the sun shining and a breeze calling you home.
To read the Bible in a year.
To keep track of all the books I read this year.
The Spiritual Education
My scriptural verses for the year are:
Don’t worry about anything, but in everything through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4: 6
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails… 1 Corinthians 13 4-8b
The giving of self
-
To find a voluntary position where I can give of myself weekly to help others
-
To fast in prayer for those in need – at least once a week.
-
To not forget a single friend’s birthday for a whole 12 months (and not be late with their cards!) and to always send cards to celebrate births and adoptions!
-
To volunteer abroad for a period of at least ten days.
The Must Do’s
- Find a job
- Apply for post-graduate courses in teaching and speech language pathology
- Offer a financial coaching class at Church
- Build my emergency fund (again!)
Words ForThe Year
Purity- to keep my thoughts, actions and life as pure as possible. To not be cynical, or negative but to accept people at face value with pure thoughts, words and deeds!
Grace – the meaning is unmerited favor, so to show grace to all who cross my path. To practice forgiveness and love in all that I do.
Complete The Statement
I will – feel God’s voice like a serenade!
I accept – things may not go according to my plan, but they will go according to the plan!
I feel – life is beautiful, each and every single day. Even when things seem so difficult, there is beauty found in tragedy and a radiance found in joy!
What are your plans for 2010?

I made new years resolutions to pray more, read my Bible more consistently and also to pray regarding decisions more. I don’t think I ask enough for guidance from God in my decisions. I want to trust God more.
I appreciate your posts, they are very thoughtful and make me think more about being thankful.
Just found your blog via Down To Earth. Fantastic stuff. Loved this post.
love, Tina xx
I don’t know what is wrong with me, but I still haven’t got a plan of action together yet for 2010?

Sounds like a beautiful plan FT. All the best to you in 2010.

Those are great goals, one of my biggest goals for this year is to enjoy and live in the moment especially with my kiddos. To take the time and really enjoy what we are doing, even if it’s dishes and laundry.
wonderful!
i have more plans than there is time in the year ahead to do it all…! but i feel energised and excited by it, so that’s something!
happy 2010 xx
My plans for 2010?
Still a work in progress!
All the best with your plans
Cheers
Judy
I’ve heard “when in a fix think Philipians 4:6″ but as it is says to go to Him in everything I really think that is the wrong way of lookking at this scripture. After all, everything is EVERYthing! Proverbs 3:5,6 also Psalm 91 are on similar lines. Cherrie
PS I have Psalm 55:22 on my wall. A friend told me to read it and really think about COMPLETE reliance on God and I was able to pull through and not increase my depression medication at that time.
Those are great goals! I keep track of my books read on goodreads. I find it nice to help me remember what I read months ago…I tend to read a lot and can’t always remember
Good luck with the job hunt. And whichever path life takes you down I hope it’s a happy and healthy year for you.

Wow, I love how you are always so thoughtful and thorough. I admit that I sort of haphazardly tossed some resolution ideas around. They always centre around getting in shape, being better at keeping in touch with friends and family, being more active in church and community.
Last year my only resolution was to start a book club, so at least that got accomplished!
After reading your post, I’m going to have to put more thought into it…
