Today I enjoyed a day of no spending, as of late I’m amazed at the number of small purchases I’ve made, whether it be stopping off for honey & lemon (the ultimate flu remedy), a newspaper to read (the joys of unemployment), or something in preparation for the holidays. It isn’t that I’ve been spending a lot, just that spending or popping to the shops has become a bit too frequent an endeavor for my liking. Today I intentionally didn’t spend, I enjoyed a day of hibernation doing nothing more than resting, relaxing, listening to music and organizing my photographs. Spending nothing a few days a week won’t instantly give you millions, but it might just give you more than that, exercise in self-control and time to do the most wonderful things in life…enjoying beautiful moments of serenity, feeling something other than spending and buying serenading you!

Not having a car, I tend to try to do several small trips to the store after work instead of one big trip each week, but it’s easy to give in to impulse buys every time I step into a store. Add in all the holiday errands and it feels like I’ve been spending a lot more lately. I’m looking forward to Jan and doing some hibernating and letting my bank account hibernate a little too.
This photo really speaks to me – theres something about a photo with a path in it. And of course the colors, the angle is great. I think when I am trying not to spend any money, that is when I can see just how much money it takes to live! Truly man must eat by the sweat of his brow. But there will come a day…..Hallejujah!
