A huge thank you to Really Ready For Change who gave me a Humanity Award! I’m honestly nowhere near where I strive to be and where I should be, I feel a constant tug at my heart to be more humane, but thank you
I’d like to point you all to an amazing blog I found written by an 18 year old girl who gave up the so called typical teenage things – driving her own car, going to University, partying, having a boyfriend and instead has gone to live in Uganda, Africa. This girl feeds hundreds of children a day in a feeding centre and actually has 13 children living with her, who call her Mama. She has given up so much and yet gained so much more. Please go and read her blog, look at the photographs and be inspired! It is so encouraging to read about people giving their lives to serve others! She is certainly too busy to look at blog awards, but deserves it nonetheless!
Thank you to the many of you make lovely comments about my very amature photography and photographs around Devon, today I found this wonderful article in the Guardian showing 16 stunning photographs of Britain’s Favourite View! Enjoy!!
Finally, I’m off to spend a few days in Yorkshire and I hope Northumberland for a wedding in early October. I would love to have wonderful walks in the countryside, see beautiful scenery and enjoy a simple frugal trip. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations of places to go or stay in those counties?
Well that was certainly a mixed bag of a post

I spent 3 years in Newcastle doing a degree and the Northumberland countryside up there is fab! Lots of castles with beach walks close by. A couple that come to mind – Craster, Bamburgh, oh and you have to go to Lindisfarne (Island) it has the most amazing chapel on it with such a brilliant energy. Plus a really nice castle. Alnmouth and Alnwick are really nice little market towns too. I have to say I finished my degree in 1989 and I went back to the area again in the 90′s for a holiday … but I haven’t been for a while so things may have changed. What I do recall is the wonderful wild countryside and long beach walks .. you’ll have a great time!
In terms of frugality, I caught a bus to Alnwick and stayed in a youth hostel up there – it was nice (but again that’s a long time ago).
BTW where are you going in Yorkshire? I potholed down Gaping Gill when I was a teen and the countryside around there is beautiful. York is nice (fantastic tea shops!). I did a Masters in Sheffield and the countryside surrounding that city is beautiful too …
yay yorkshire! i used to live there – whereabouts are you off to?
xx

Hi there-well done on the award and wishing you a lovely time in Yorkshire, it sounds like it will be fabulous!
Congrats on the award! And that Journey blog IS amazing! I hope you’ve added it to your blogroll. I love reading your blog because you keep grounding me.
Thanks and blessings!
You are welcome! Have a good time on your trip.
Thank you for the blog recommendation!
What an amazing girl!
I have a friend who studied last spring in Ghana and ended up spending her time helping out at an orphanage there. We all got together and donated $2000 that she was able to spend on making the place more livable for the kids. She is going back next May to work there some more and film a documentary. People inspire me every day!
Well deserved award, of all the blogs I read yours is by far the most concerned with humanity!
I’ll check out that blog, looks great.
Your vacation sounds great, can’t wait to see pictures.
Dear FT

I forgot to ask you this before: would you mind sharing more of these inspiring blogs you find?
Thank you for sharing that blog, The Journey… it definitely makes one take a moment and think.
Congrats! You deserve it! I know you feel like you can always do more, but honestly, you do far more than people even think of doing. Keep on inspiring the rest of us!
