Day 5 – The 1/2 Way Mark!

So it is day 5 ladies in our challenge of Simply Getting Healthy!

I’m amazed at how routine it has become to exercise, think about what I am eating & even photograph my food! I definitely have more energy than 5 days ago, which is such a blessing under the circumstances, so it really just proves that what we put into our bodies and how we treat them, even if we have other challenges (long term health issues etc) has a positive effect!  We all owe it to ourselves & our bodies to be the best stewards of them that we can be. That doesn’t mean under-eating, it doesn’t mean obsessing about weight, it doesn’t mean forcing our bodies to over exercise. I really really believe that life is a balance – we need to eat the good food our body needs, give it an opportunity to exercise & work those many muscles & let it shine. Lately I’ve really been thinking about this because despite the fact I want to lose some unwanted pounds that crept on during hormone treatment (very common!) I feel like the Lord has purposely made me see blogs and people in real life who have gone too far, women whose heads look too big for their bodies, women who obviously have not enough body fat. We are not doing ourselves, our current or future health any good unless we view food & exercise as a balance! What  a great reminder this is to me!

Breakfast: 1 piece of toast with crunchy organic peanut butter & Devon honey! Delicious! With a red delicious apple!

Snack:  After my swim I was craving a smoothie so I went and got one! It was made with raspberries, strawberries, apple, orange & yogurt! I also stocked up on some pineapple!

Lunch: A yummy tuna fish sandwich on sourdough bread with pineapple! I had about double this in pineapple!

Dinner: completely forgot to take a photo – I had homemade flapjack, cheese, grapes, cherry tomatoes. It was nice & light and hit the spot!

Exercise:

AM – 1 hour &  5 min swim – it was f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s

PM

1 30 min walk

 1 45 min walk

Get Stuff Done: Telephone calls that urgently needed doing!

How is everyone else finding it?

    Yay, half way!

    Ok, breakfast, weetbix, again.
    Lunch – leftover vegie fritters
Dinner – will be homemade pumpkin soup (currently bubbling away on the stove) and cheese scones (which I am about to make). And some pineapple too.
Snacks – pear, apple, grapes, and the apple muffin.
Exercise – 15 min walk at lunch, and 40 minute walk after work.

I don’t feel more energised, if anything, my legs are very sore from the exercise! And issues at work are wearing me down, so, no. But, I do feel better that I am looking after my health, so thats good. And I am saving a lot of money by not eating junk!

    Cheers

    Kylee

You should be so proud of yourself! Your cheesy scones sound delicious! The sore muscles are a good sign, as is the saving money!

Thank you so much for taking part in this, even though you don’t have a blog. Well done you!!!

I was a bit side swiped by being sick. a couple of people thought that maybe my body was rebelling against lack of sugar! but I do think I was ill. Which didnt help much. I think its helping kick the automatic cake desiring part of the day.

I’ve caught myself walking along through the day and thinking, ‘wow, I feel good!’ My food hasn’t changed much, slight choice changes really, but I’ve foregone my one-soda-a-day-when-I’m-in-town habit and opted for iced tea instead (because it’s all about the ice for me). And moving more, even just a little bit, has really made me feel better. It’s really exciting…and FUN to have others to share it with! Thanks, FT.

Here’s hoping you’re back in the pink soon , Mo!

  7. I’m posting an update on my blog about it–I’ve really been enjoying taking the photos and keeping myself accountable. However, I’ve not been great about posting them! I’m going to put some up now, so thanks for the motivation!
