It Has Been 1 Year My Friends!

Can you believe it? It has been 1 year since I started this blog!!!! In that year I have not bought anything for myself – no new books, no new clothes, no home decor, no new jewelery, it feels good! In fact I’m thinking of extending for another 3 months. Yes my book tokens are still sitting unused!

I’ll blog about my thoughts on the last year and the 1 year “blogaversary” at some point, but for now I’ll do a 100 things about me; as if you didn’t already know a great deal ;0)

  1. I am currently watching Lost
  2. I have loved it since the beginning
  3. I missed a season here or there when I returned after a year abroad
  4. I feel like I haven’t seen the world, until I’m reminded I’ve seen more countries than most.
  5. I have been to 15 countries, I don’t include airport stops in that list.
  6. I love making lists and accomplishing my tasks.
  7. I find it Stressful when I don’t get something done on my daily to do list.
  8. Yes Stressful with a capital S
  9. I used to know all the states (in the US) and their capital cities
  10. It is because I have always wanted to live in the US, minus the politics ;0)
  11. I have dear friends in Texas, California, NM, MN, IL and UT
  12. They all want me to move there.
  13. I sent them all the link to this blog then a month later discovered the email never sent
  14. I never re-sent it because I’d love to see if they find this blog & know it is me.
  15. Kind of like a 6 degrees of separation
  16. I’m kooky like that
  17. If any of you are reading this tell me, it would make my day.
  18. My kookiness would therefore be considered brilliance!
  19. My IQ score when I was 17 was genius level
  20. To this day it makes me laugh
  21. I would rather be baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, growing babies and caring for a husband than using my brain in the traditional sense
  22. In many ways I am quite anti-tradition
  23. In other ways I am really very conservative
  24. For example I really want a husband who will be the spiritual head of the home
  25. But I don’t believe that means we aren’t equal or that I am less because I am a woman
  26. More than I will trust his judgement and take peace in it (and not that I won’t have a say!)
  27. Yes, I realize most of you reading this will be shocked
  28. That’s ok, I do my thing you can do yours ;0)
  29. Everyone who sees my baby pictures tells me I look like Shiloh Pitt
  30. I do not look like Angelina Jolie now
  31. Ha Ha Ha!
  32. I have been told I have her lips.
  33. That is completely incorrect.
  34. My mum even saw a picture of Shiloh Pitt and thought it was me
  35. That’s enough about Shiloh Pitt.
  36. Now lets talk about teeth.
  37. I clean my teeth as soon as I wake up
  38. And before I go out
  39. Yes that means I might clean them at 7 am and then 8:30
  40. I cringe if I go more than 4 or 5 hours without brushing so I brush as soon as I come home again
  41. And before bed.
  42. A dentist once told me to insure my teeth for £50,000 ($90,000) – to this day I don’t know if he was joking or not.
  43. I am going to the dentist in two weeks
  44. I hate going to the dentist.
  45. Yes I have really stooped to a low level by talking about the dentist.
  46. I love all animals.
  47. I would love to have a small holding
  48. It’s a great place to grow a large family
  49. I’ve always wanted to adopt.
  50. It pains me that there are millions of children in the world with no-one
  51. Terrible things happen in orphanages and when children are aged out of them.
  52. Imagine being 10 with only the clothes on your backs and nowhere to go.
  53. It is in my prayers every night that more people would adopt, those with birth children and those without.
  54. I’ve always believed in God
  55. But it is more recently that I understand the responsibility and blessing this is!
  56. Every day I pray for whoever I may end up marrying and my future children and family (I secretly hope he isn’t an only child and has nieces and/or nephews!)
  57. I’ve always wanted to marry a math teacher, a farmer or a vicar (what we call a Pastor)
  58. I am good at the basics in math but algebra and calculus not so much!
  59. I bet you are questioning that genius IQ now aren’t you ;0)
  60. I’ve also always thought I’d marry someone who is a coach
  61. I think I’d make a good football/soccer mum
  62. Over here we bring oranges to matches. As in the fruit.
  63. My US and Cdn friends find this hilarious.
  64. I love to laugh and have always been attracted to quiet men who have a good sense of humor
  65. My mum and I both have a dry sense of humor, but only when comfortable with people
  66. My mum was born in Liverpool
  67. She supports Liverpool and Manchester United
  68. I have told her technically that isn’t allowed.
  69. I was going to be called Kathleen, Caroline or Charlotte – only it wasn’t allowed b/c family members already took those names.
  70. I love names & their history
  71. I think it is because I am 1/4 Irish
  72. No one can place my accent.
  73. I’ve been told it is British (southern England) with a twist.
  74. Only no one can agree on what the twist is.
  75. The last time I went to the US, servers would ask me to talk to them just so they could hear the accent
  76. I always find that really funny!
  77. It makes me come out of my shell
  78. I love collecting shells on the beach
  79. I always wanted a dog to walk on the beach, especially Galveston Beach.
  80. If I had a dog I’d call him Stanley
  81. Or Norman
  82. Because I think they are cool names :0)
  83. I think Coldplay are perhaps the coolest band in the world.
  84. Yes I live in the same city as Chris Martin’s family
  85. I don’t think they read my blog!
  86. I love to read
  87. I read everything from political magazines to cookbooks & of course my Bible
  88. My favourite cookbooks are sweet little ones from American Inns and Guesthouses
  89. There’s the USA theme again!
  90. At least we are not talking about teeth again ;0)
  91. Oops, technically I guess we are!
  92. I am not so technically inclined, I’m praying I meet someone who is!
  93. I pray when I see an ambulance or fire engine go by that whoever they are going to is safe & have people who love them
  94. I also pray if I have to go on a plane
  95. Lately I’ve had some very bad experiences.
  96. I think we can learn a lot from bad experiences
  97. Blessings often arrive when we least expect them
  98. I believe in the joy that is found when leading a simple life.
  99. I believe that God has a great plan for all of us
  100. I believe I need to follow His plan rather than try to lead it!

And just so you can see what I looked like at age 2, here is a picture of Shiloh. This is the picture where my mum needed a lot of convincing it isn’t me. I still don’t think she believes me.

shiloh

To be honest, I don’t even believe myself because I really did look like this. Exactly. And yes, I’m still blonde!

Can I end by saying a big thank you to everyone who has found their way here, for every sweet & encouraging comment & email, for all the wonderful friendships formed. Who knew a blog I started with no readers would go to around  10,000 – 15,000 a week, who knew I would get to know so many of you and find such lovely friendships with people all over the globe, from all different walks in life & beliefs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

That’s made me smile and reflect this morning. Great post for the bloganniversary.

Stanley or Norman – just love it.

Can’t wait to speak to you one day to hear this ‘accent’

And right there with you on the teeth thing, hate dentists.. but don’t clean as much as you.. hmm maybe I should.

Have a great day and thank you! (you know what for!)

  2. Kel says:

  3. Happy Anniversary, Trenches!! I have found so much joy reading your blog!! Thanks for being an inspiration!

  4. Happy Happy Blogaversary FT. Have been following your blog for much of the past year and thank you for all the lovely comments on mine.

Your 100 things made me smile … food for thought for my first Blogaversary although I have a feeling I’ll be in the US at the time.

I enjoyed your list of 100(?) things about you. I don’t think it is weird to have your husband as head, after all that is the way we were made. The Bible commands husbands to be heads in the same way that Christ is their head. First Corinthians 11:3. Women in Israel were never treated as subordinates or slaves but as compliments of men which is what Eve was meant to be to Adam. Genesis 2:18. I love your blog and am amazed also at how many readers you have accumulated. Congratulations.

  6. Judy Yates says:

Hi FT congratulations on your 1 year anniversary. Laughed at some of your ’100 things’ – your sense of humour shines through!

    Keep up the great work

No baby pictures of you to compare???

    Cheers
    Judy

  7. Cindy Brick says:

Yes, I’m reading this…and now I know more than I did about you! (Also, add Colorado to your list of places to visit in the U.S. You’ve got a place to stay here now…just let us know so we can make the guest bed up.) I agree with you about #25, by the way — if HE doesn’t agree with this, don’t marry him! (Honest) And yes, I am still listening to ‘that song.’ Almost every day. Best to you, girl — always.

  8. Holly says:

Happy First Birthday!! I had mine the other day too and couldn’t believe how good it felt to know I’d been going a whole year! Can’t wait to see where life takes you in the next one!

    Great list! I love it.

P.S. My hubby states that when we enroll our kids in soccer I will be bringing loads of oranges! :) So I understand the oranges.

  17. Sarah says:

I loved the first series of Lost, til channel 4 stopped showing it (at the time I didn’t have Sky1). Now we do but I can’t see myself understanding what’s going on after all this time!

    I loooove Heroes though :D

  18. Shiloh Pitt, huh? And now I want to hear your accent. And wouldn’t a math teacher be dreamy? I would love all the analytical conversations I could have with a glass of wine and comfort. ha!

    Happy 1 year, Shiloh! ;)

  19. sonrie says:

Congrats on one year! I think I resembled her a bit in my toddler years too. And Brad Pitt is from my state of Missouri, though he was raised a couple of hours from me. I doubt we are related.

  20. sonrie says:

and, yes, I am still blonde, too.

  21. mo says:

are you tall? I have a delightful friend who is single and am sure would suit you! he is a bit on the short side though. He would love to have a small holding. has 2 kids already. Lives in suffolk. he’s a doctor and love kids. xxx

I think you need to put a bit of energy into finding this husband chap of yours! just up your chances somehow. I wish I could have started earlier with the kids thing. and if that is what you want…… get going girly!

  22. Marilynne says:

You have a friend in Roz from Life in Australia too. I wouldn’t have found your blog except for her.

I like the baby picture. When I blogged with one of my childhood pictures, my daughter said it looked just like her daughter. That’s interesting, isn’t it?

    Maxie

I LOVE this post!! Congratulations on your blog-aversary :) :)

This list is great, and as far as all the seemingly incongruent wishes on it, well, they’re NOT…they’re awesome! and I’ll tell you from experience when it comes to the man portion on that list, and the longings of the heart in relation to home, family, children, relationship, KEEP praying and waiting for the best…God brought me mine and He has the BEST for you…and you’re a treasure! I’ll be praying, too…my hubby is the perfect fit…we’re both so imperfect and were totally matchmade by the Almighty, and I love this man more than imaginable…we both love God as the center of our lives, and yet we don’t fit nicely into any particular group’s traditional set-up of that.
OK, I talk too much…just loved your list and recognized a kindred spirit in so much that is on it. Wonderful turn of the heart! :)

  36. Jennifer says:

Just happened upon your blog. LOVED, loved, loved your 100 list and how it segued along down the track. Loved 22-25; how you can be one thing but also be and expect the opposite. Will definitely keep reading. Your list is exceptionally eclectic. I am not Christian, do not believe in God or Jesus but do believe that the stories in the Bible and Testament existed, but only as stories. No higher being for me. Once you die, that’s it and some blogs are very Christian but will keep reading yours because you make sense. This doesn’t mean I don’t respect Christianity. I do, but it’s not for me. Are you sure you don’t look like Angelina? That photo of you as a baby is amazing lol!
    Jennifer.
