How My Days have changed.

From 16 hour work days, eating meals at my desk or while flying through the air en route to meetings to spending a morning planting flowers with a 3 year old, learning what roots are, how plants grow, how we keep them healthy etc.

Do you think we did well? It was both of our first attempts at getting a hanging basket together although the little one has a lot more experience planting then I do! Cute quote of the day “nobody ever told me about those root things before or kindness or saying thank you for kind things or about i’s and o’s, thank you for helping me learn these things”. My heart melted.

We enjoyed finding nice wiggly worms and feeding them compost!

And seeing pure joy in the simple things

Another simple joy…tea in a beautiful teacup, warms my soul!

Food & allergy situation - it is no better, hands still covered and mouth still itchy, always always flaring up after I’ve eaten – no matter what I eat!  I’m perplexed as to what the culprit could be (thank you for your suggestions though, I’m working my way through them), taking anti-histamines which only seem to work in the mornings, putting lots of topical cream on which gives about 30 minutes of relief, for the last two nights I’ve woken up many times itching! I won’t post food pictures until I’m eating properly again, right now meals are hit & miss!

And a reason to celebrate – Bilbo the dog is allowed to once again patrol a beach in Cornwall helping to keep people safe!

Have you tried putting oats on your hands? It won’t cure eczema or allergies but it’s a moderate itch-reliever that is as chemical free as you make it. I mix oats (fine cut) and honey together into a stiff paste and slather it on. You can knead it around like a scrub, but leave it on for 10-15 minutes. (Scrape most of it off before you wash it off, or you’ll clog your drain.) If you’ve got a whole body itch you can put baking soda (bicarbonate) in your bathwater. My mom did that when we had the chicken pox and it helped a little.

    Lots of pretty flowers.
How rewarding to get such a response from the little one you were with, they are so honest and straightforward.

Hi mate, what a lovely day. I think spending time with kids is good for your soul. I know the time you spend with her is clearly such good value – proof in what she said to you. Good job! ;)

Seeing that teacup reminds me of my nanna. And how when I used to visit her we used to play cards and have cups of tea. It’s a pretty set!

Stupid itching/allergies. Did you tell them they are not welcome in your life anymore? Grrr!

Thanks for the encouragement you send our way….This morning I doubled my cauliflower casserole recipe and bread recipe so I’d have some to share with a friend.

I’m pondering the allergies: strawberries, nuts and seafood are probably more likely than wheat and dairy to cause the itching. Wheat and dairy do the abdominal bloating, gas and belly pain, diarrhea.

Hot baths/showers and overheating make the itching worse.

Benadryl every 6 hours helps with the itching. Prescription hydroxyzine is very good for itching as well.

Sometimes the best thing to do is to eat just rice and chicken broth for 2-3 days.

    Hang in there….

  13. lcg says:

Oh….and putting ice on the worst of the itching spots can be helpful too.

Someone else who loves cups of tea in pretty teacups – a kindred spirit! But seriously, I totally get how peaceful a good cup of tea, well presented, can be!

  15. I hope the itching stops soon, FT!

Congratulations to the amazing start to your weight loss :) You are rockin’ it!

oh beautiful. it is still brown here. waiting for spring to spring.

as for allergies – not sure the story, but if all foods are making you itchy… it’s not the food. lotions, fabrics, chemicals?

  17. Anny says:

The three year old sounds precious! You were one of the contest winners on my site btw! I just need shipping info :)

  18. Maureen says:

Amazing how the simple things in life please us the most, putting our hands in the soil and a good cup of tea. Good luck with getting rid of the rash there is nothing worse than losing sleep.

  19. Lazy Susie says:

Could your allergy be to meds? I’ve had those and that did flare up at odd times.

    Lovely posts lately.

My French (by birth and at heart) husband really dislikes that buddy word. Many people use it here when talking to boys. Bud also. It’s been banned from our vocabularly.
