biscuits

The concept of sending biscuits from biscuiteers – especially these love ones!

pomegranate

Pomegranate Body butter from the Body Shop! Although sadly it is not taking away my eczema which is all over my hands :-( Any suggestions? I’ve tried accupuncture, herbal remidies, reducing dairy, steroid cream (prescription) etc.

mis-0022

My daily walk along Exeter Quay!

The big switch off happening this Saturday from 8:30-9:30pm! Any one else want to join in?

And I’m re-loving the song If She Wants Me from Belle & Sebastien!

The fact that our blogging meet up is only about 3 months away! So far, here is the plan.

Location: London, England (it seemed like the only central and cheap place that people could get to and could get cheap day return tickets to). If you could all let me know where your train gets into (i.e. what station) then I have a few choices of places to meet up. Please feel free to make any suggestions of venues.

Date: June 20, 2009

Time: A long leisurely lunch! Perhaps we should plan trains that get us into London by about 11/11:30, so that we can meet somewhere around noon?

Who Is Invited: Anyone who has a blog!  Most of us blog about living, simplicity, personal finance etc.

How To Get The Info: I don’t want to publically state where we are meeting up, so please comment in this post with your email address and then I will set up an email group for planning. I know since the last list a few more people want to join in or have started reading etc, so this will be the one place I’ll look and keep checking on! I really hope to see you all there!!

Budget: Once you get your tickets etc, I’m hoping to keep the lunch budget to restaurants that won’t cost more than £10 for a main meal. I don’t want money to be a barrier for anyone!  I’m also hoping I can find something we can all do for free or a minimal cost as well, perhaps a boat ride after lunch along the Thames for those that are interested!

And that, right now, sums up my loves!

    I wish Jessica, I wish!!!

  3. Jen says:

I’ve had horrible skin for years, and the last doctor told me I had skin like a horse for thickness and toughness, not to mention dry and cracking and sore. She told me to go get the stuff they put on the burn unit patients. It’s called (and I’m not sure if I have the spelling correct) Eucerin Glycerin Water, and it’s been amazing! Supple skin for the first time in years! It wasn’t prescription, but I did have to ask for it from the pharmacist. This is Canada, so not sure if you have the same thing there, but do ask!

  4. i wanna go to the uk blogger meetup! waaah! anyway, that pillow is magnificent as are your other pics. you sound great! love belle & s :)

  5. Money Funk says:

    I love the pillow, too!

My daughter has eczema, but hers is caused by an allergy to nickel. So, when she wears jeans the button and rivets cause her skin to break out. Plus, when winter starts she is attacked by an eczema rash.

So, if you wear jewelry on your hands it could be the cause. We just really hydrate the skin and try using the steroid cream to an absolute minimum! If you ever find absolute relief, let me in! :)

hey frugal. I am interested in the meet up. I may not be able to make it as I dont know when it is, but would love to know the details. do I need to write my email address in this comment? (leaving a comment requires my email address)

  7. Holly says:

:( I’ll be in London from June 3rd – 8th so will miss it but I hope everyone has a great time!

  8. Diana says:

For eczema you may need to increase your omega 3′s. Wild salmon oil capsules work well. Not sure if flaxseed oil works the same. Good luck.

  9. Rebekka says:

Re eczema: I get it on my hands, too. Usually I can keep it down with the steroid creams and with being vigilant about moisturising and wearing gloves outside in the winter. But sometimes (like right now) it seems like nothing helps and then I have to go to the dermatologist and get light therapy. You put your hands in a box for a few minutes at a time and they get a dose of UV light. I usually have to go 5-7 times over a few weeks but this always makes it go away totally and I won’t have any problems for a long time. (Last time I had to go to light therapy was 2-3 years ago.)

  10. apieceofwood says:

You got me down for the meet already me thinks.. I go into Euston!
Loving the look of those biscuits!

  11. Chantel says:

Ohhhhh I wish I could come! This girl down under is a little too far away :)

I hope you have a lovely day. Love the view on your walk x

  12. Laura says:

I’m in for the meet; get into St Pancras

  13. missy says:

I love love love the union jack cushion. Its so fun the union jack is the it fashion statement at the mo. Found your blog from recessionista is fab.

  14. FrugalChick says:

I’ve suffered from eczema on and off for years, and the only tings that consistently helps me is olive oil applied directly on the skin. I hope you get some relief soon!

  15. Lazy Susie says:

When my daughter had eczema on her hands, it was caused by soap. The main culprit was antibacterial soaps. They are everywhere here, and it is hard to stay away from them.

Her eczema in other places was caused by sugar and dairy.

Bert’s Bees has a wonderful product that works on bad skin; Mary Kay’s extra emollient night cream has taken care of all our horrible skin problems (think the worst diaper rash ever).

  16. Elizabeth says:

Please count me in for the meet-up. My train gets into Liverpool Street station but as it’s only a 35 minute journey into London for me where ever the actual meet is would be fine.

Goats milk cream is very effective for eczema. It’s easy to buy online but a health food shop might well stock it too.

  17. Frugal Trenches says:

Elizabeth – wonderful, it will be lovely to meet you!!

And just what do you do with the goat’s milk, drink it or put in on the hands?

  18. Frugal Trenches says:

    Moyra

    A Piece Of Wood

    Laura

    I’ve counted you all in!!

So looking forward to it :-)

  19. Sarah says:

oh what the heck, i’ll come :P i’ll feel very strange though as I don’t know anyone apart from you, FT! (not bothered by the internet thing though, done it many times before!)

My train would get in to London King’s Cross (anyone else on the Doncaster/London route?). Can we please pick a restaurant that has some veggie choices though? (my workmates always seem to go for fish and chips, steakhouses and pub carveries!!!)

  20. MrsSmith says:

I’m sure you’ve already been told this, but sometimes just switching your detergent can do worlds of good. Especially if you are using something extra full of crazy stuff like Gain. Try something that just gets things clean and doesn’t add smell.

And whatever you put on your hands, olive oil or cream, just slop in on before bed and sleep in gloves. That does wonders.

*sigh* I would love to go! But… I’m pretty far away. The train just wouldn’t do it. Hope you have tons of fun!!

I’ll be sending an email out this weekend!

  25. Catz says:

Sorry I have only just seen this post! Yes I would love to come to the meet up. Like Elizabeth I would travel in to Liverpool Street. Not sure if I could keep up the pace though – would love to do the boat trip as I could have a sit down, lol!

  26. Jess says:

I know I’m very late to this post (am new to your blog!) but just wanted to add that the only thing I’ve found to work on my sore excema hands is Hemp Hand Cream from the Body Shop. If you ask they should be able to give you a sample to try before you buy, I used to work there and it’s part of the policy ;) x

  27. I’m so very late but in case you do another one of these, thought i’d leave a comment just-in-case.
