I’d like to start by saying that this is a very hard time of year (it’s Mothering Sunday here in the UK) for those who long to be mothers or who have lost their mothers. My prayer is that this time next year all those longing have babies are growing babies or are in the midst of adoption paper work, filled with hope of what is to come. For those who have lost their mothers, I hope that you know how loved you were and find peace.

- The best news was that I got my deposit back (almost all of it) after 5 months of fighting, having to show pictures, demonstrate I actually left the flat in much better condition then when I moved in etc! I need to check it is in my account (will do tomorrow) but the ruling was in my favor! Yippee! So pleased this stress is gone!
- I’m officially done work! Yippee! I have another hour or so to spend with HR, probably Monday afternoon and then that is it!
- Friday afternoon I delivered some soup (homemade chicken noodle), homemade bread & truffles to a friend who had a nasty cold! I’m working on learning how to show more hospitality so this is something I hope to do more often!

- The best part was I got to hang out with her adorable baby! Just look at those baby toes!!

- Leaving them to have naps & enjoy soup, I then helped out a friend who needed someone to watch her 3 year old! It was so much fun to help her out & spend time with her little one! We had 4 hours of enjoying time at the park, going on a cat walk (a long walk with the goal of finding as many kitties as possible & naming them!), visited a pet store, doing yoga together (she thought this was the best thing ever! Is it bad that my yoga skills are like a 3 year olds?), enjoying lunch together & then of course she enjoyed trying on my shoes!

- Friday night was spent at a friend’s house for dinner! It was yummy but it made me realize how differently I eat from most of my generation! I had a terrible headache the next day and I’m sure it is because my body simply isn’t used to sauces out of tins & veggies from cans & sauce mixes!
- Saturday began with my favourite breakfast – Fage yogurt with Food Dr seed mix, pomegranate seeds, grapes, agave nectar (don’t worry Annie just using what I have left and plan to research it!), flax seeds and almond butter! Yummy!

- Then I headed into Exeter, the weather brought out everyone on the Cathedral Green!!

- I stopped and bought a real treat – a chocolate frappuccino from Starbucks and a salad from my favourite vegetarian/vegan restaurant called The Plant Cafe/Deli which is just by the Cathedral in Exeter. Oh they were both delicious! I took a picture in the car of the frappuccino because I knew I wouldn’t last until I got home!

- Saturday night I began with a brisk 2 hour walk followed by about 15 minutes running, doing a 2 minute run followed by 2 minute walk. I just hope eventually I’m able to manage more than 15 minutes
- Sunday am began with a great 40 minute swim!
- I then presented my mum with flowers, a toblerone, card and M&S gift card for Mothering Sunday! At Church they gave flowers to all the women which I thought was a very nice thing to do because I know firsthand that this can be a very very difficult day for some women both who long to be mothers or who have lost their mums. Today we said special prayers for both!

- These flowers were a great frugal find from Tesco – £5 for 49 tulips!! We have made them into 4 bunches which are now scattered around my mum’s house!
- After Church I went back to my mum’s and made us a yummy roast dinner!! The brussel sprouts I had bought when in season and frozen, to my delight they tasted wonderful! The black like bits you see in the middle are red onions I cooked with the meat, delicious!

- I am now cuddled up on the couch, watching Pride & Prejudice – the Colin Firth edition – need I say more
at some point this afternoon I’ll go for a long walk (hopefully 1-1.5 hrs), followed by evening Church service, a quick run (maybe 20 min?) and then The Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency which I’ve been looking forward to all week!

Hi there-sounds like your weekend has been fabulous-great news and much deserved, take care my dear!
Hee hee…I was corrected in my “Agave-as-endagered-species” concern. Apparently it’s only one type. It sounds like you had a lovely weekend! I served Colin Firth in, of all places, Victoria when I lived there. His ex-partner lives on one of the islands and I believe his brother lives in town. I served him at the bookstore I worked in at the time. One of those “He looks like oh my god (!!) that’s Colin Firth!” And yes, he’s just as handsome in real life. And his middle name starts with an “E.”

You sound so much lighter you know!
Sharon Rose – thanks!
Annie – oooooh Colin Firth and I, well I’m sure we’d make the perfect couple
A Piece of Wood – I feel much lighter mentally and physically. Now if only that last 25 lbs would go I’d feel even lighter ;0)
Delighted your got that deposit back!
Cathedral Close … I used to walk through there EVERY day to work … just love it.
I’ve been hiding from the interwebs trying to keep up with real life and have missed a lot!
Glad you are doing better, and great news about leaving your job.
Enjoy the No.1 Ladies- I was so excited to watch it last week, such an excellent adaptation of the books!
ah FT you must be so much fun to spend a saturday with . i want to visit springy england, eat vegan salad and watch colin firth!!! anyway, glad you got your deposit back. landlords are so evil, we had one do that to us once and it was before we wised up about money and we were in SERIOUS trouble as a result!!!
I love photo blogging
Your meals looks incredible by the way…!
Don’t know which I’m more jealous of – the roast dinner or the time with Mr Firth! Nice to see you up and about again x
Okay, the food looks yummy (love that bread), and baby toes are adorable. I reallly enjoyed this whole post.
The Colin Firth version is the ONLY version to watch – just re-watched it last week again, and it was still as fabulous as ever!
I’m working on hospitality this year also. My goal (I work better with goals) is two times at home and two times away each month. The at home times have been dinner parties; for some reason that is easy for me. The away times are just taking something to someone and visiting them a bit. That is harder for some reason! Maybe because the children scarf up the baked goods so quickly and I never have anything to take to anyone. I used to bake Bread for Bachelors (mainly widowers), but even that isn’t getting done these days. I keep a list in my calendar to keep track and see how I’m doing. So far, so good!

Sounds like a great weekend, especially with the addition of Colin Firth.
I’m very lucky to be one of those with children to wish me a happy mothers day, but spent many years hoping until through adoption it happened, so I find your inclusion of creating a family this way very thoughtful as to some it’s still not seen as a natural way.
Hope you are now sat snuggled enjoying the TV series.
Lisa
So glad you got your money!!!
That Starbucks drink looked yummy
It’s great to see you enjoying so many things instead of being bed-ridden…
You have the gift of being able to inspire your readers! This sounded like such a wonderful day! Thank you, FT.
I’d have to say that Colin Firth and I would make a cuter couple
LOL!
You meals look so yummy. Especially that salad you picked up with the every-so-disappearing Frap. You really do sound more carefree. I have to say that I am really envious of you.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Wonderful pics, my dear. Make for a wonderful Monay read.
You’re a dear to stop by recently…thank you. I felt rested, just going through your lovely day. (I had no idea Exeter was so lovely, too…) Keep up the good living — you’ll know what to do, as your new life starts to develop. I firmly believe that.
