Photographing my food to show you all is really keeping me accountable to good eating and mealtime routines so thank you for indulging me! If any of you are trying to follow a new routine, or work on what you eat, I would really recommend this! If you don’t have a blog you could simply take pictures, print them and put them on a sheet of paper!
Without further adieu:
Breakfast

4 strawberries, tablespoon of hummus, 125ml of orange & mango smoothie with protein powder, a light babybel and a herbal tea!
Lunch:

8 grapes, 1/3 can of tuna, tablespoon of hummus, 1 beet, 1 carrot, 1 mandarin orange and a large bottle of water!
Dinner

Before you are shocked at how much food this is, it isn’t my picture and I only had about 1/2 as much! I went to a friends and we all had pasta with sour cream & smoked salmon, with this salad and a 1/3 a red pepper on the side! I had never tried smoked salmon and it was divine!
Today was a day of no snacking, I think the meals were really filling so I simply wasn’t hungry in between!
Carolyn thanks for the info re the iron intake, I’m going to really work on increasing it! Thanks to the rest of you for some good recipes using tofu, I’ll be buying some in my weekly shop this weekend! Fiona that tofu on toast sounds divine!!
Re recipes for yesterday’s soup! Yes I’ll post it this weekend!
Later today I’ll be posting an interview/Q&A of yours truly by That British Woman and I’m hoping some of you will let me interview you!

Hi FT, your meals look really good – I’ve recently started trying to eat fewer refined carbohydrates and more real food. I’m so impressed at the variation you manage on such a small budget.
I do have a question, though. It seems to me like you aren’t getting enough fat and that your portion sizes are *very* small. I know that most people eat waaaaay too much (myself included), but still. How do you figure that what you eat is enough? Or are you maybe just a small person who doesn’t need very much?
Here is a tofu recipe: Southwestern Tofu Scramble.
That smoked salmon dish sounds really yummy! Glad you are doing well with your meals.
ps – I was rereading my sent msg to you and realized I may have come off wrong. I hope you didn’t think I was trying not to tell you doctor’s orders. I was just trying to think of great additions that could help.
Like your photos. Giving me great ideas for my own plate. Today for lunch: lentils, onion, garlic, cumin with a side of vegetable soup. Trying to keep it as natural as possible.
more shocked at how tiny the other meals were! you eat like a wee sparrow!
I can’t believe you’ve never had smoked salmon before! I absolutely love it and will eat it straight out of the packet. Had a whole side of it at Christmas. Very good with scrambled eggs or on a bagel with philadelphia.
I’m not sure if anyone else has said this (need to go catch up over your last few days) but I agree with Rebekka, your portions do seem small. Perhaps it’s just me eating far too much but I’d eat four times that many grapes and that whole bowl of pasta. But the flip side is that I probably wouldn’t balance it all out over the day. It’s about finding what’s right for you.
I’d drink much more orange juice in the morning though. Your body doesn’t store vitamin C so you need to give yourself lots of it.
Do you ever eat porridge for breakfast? I think I read before that you do but it’s definitely the best breakfast in my opinion and is great with some blueberrys or raisins added in!
Will email you soon about the June meet-up.
That pasta looks so very yummy!
Can’t wait for the soup recipe! Yummy!
One more thing. I know in the past you’ve mentioned struggling with your weight, I’d love to hear more about that. I think you would encourage us who need to toss a few pounds – me especially.
Oh yes and do you find eating meat has made you feel better?
Sorry that is 2 questions I know, but you did say you were willing to do Q&A’s!
I have to say it again, I love your blog. So interesting!
I also have to ask… How do you eat so little? I am always trying to cut my portion sizes but it is really difficult. How do you do it?
I’m really interested in your new diet as I was recently told to bump up my protein intake too. I’m very impressed with your commitment, I’ve improved my dinners but lunches and breakfasts have yet to change- hoping you’ll inspire me!
I also think that you eat very little. Or perhaps I’m the one who eats way too much … I’ve followed your advice and I’ve started taking pictures of my meals as this might just stop me from pigging out. Thanks for the inspiration!
Are you on a drastic diet? There doesn’t seem to be a lot on those plates…. Good for you for monitering yourself but don’t forget to double check that you are getting enough to eat!
I have to agree with thr above concerns about how much you eat! Are you sure that you are getting over 1200 calories a day? I would doubt it, looking at these photos. You must be sure to eat more than 1200 a day in order to stop your body going into starvation mode. I would literally fall over if that’s all I ate for lunch. Also, carbohydrates are very important for fuelling your brain as they provide the neccessary glucose it needs.
Too much food?!! I would be starving after having such a meager amount for breakfast and lunch.
Holy Cow Batwomen!!!
4 strawberries, I was thinking I’d eat 40 if they were in season!
Your making me feel fat, which is a good thing as I do need to lose some weight, but still 4 strawberries for breakfast Wow!
