People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed!
Welcome!
I'm Frugal Trenches (no, not my real name!) a lover of natural, simple and frugal living! I use this space and my camera to document a beautiful, purposeful, downshifted and abundant life! Life is not always simple (oh how I wish it was!) but it is always rich and I hope this space demonstrates beauty and joy!
If you have a question, feel free to leave it in the comments! I read and appreciate every comment and will reply to questions within the comment section, even if it takes a day or two (or three, but whose counting!).

PHOTOS! Lovely ones – and of exactly the kind of places in which to be restored and revived – I’d like to know who has reclaimed you!
LOL Sandie!!!
I think it was supposed to be about reclaiming oneself, I was trying to be poetic!
LOL

I love the English countryside…How fabulous! No wonder you feel so good!
Annie – exactly!
A great place to take a relaxing and refreshing walk. Glad to hear your batteries have been recharged, we all get run down and need a boost from time to time and I know you have been working hard recently.
Gorgeous!!!!!
Love those pictures – they make me really homesick! I live in a very ugly sprawly Ontario city in Canada now but 6 years ago I lived in the Hampshire countryside and regularly used to go walking there and make trips up to the cotswolds for walks there too. I really agree with you regarding the need to be in nature to restore ones self. I find it very stressful living in the city that I do – it’s so ugly and there isn’t enough nature around for me.
Sharie – yes that’s exactly it, the countryside has let me recharge. It’s given me hope. Oddly I never felt nature was important to me before, I’ll have to do a post on it!
Angela I remember that feeling well. NA is a wonderful place, but, you can easily get stuck in a city with the true countryside or ocean being hours, or even days away!
Oooh – what soul soothers! Hope you’re feeling like yourself again xx
Beautiful photos – enjoy your renewal!
Beautiful quote matched with delightful photographs.
Beautiful!
Dear FT,
What part of the UK are you living in now? I live in Maryland, but most of my family lives in the UK.
My cousin lives outside of Berwick upon Tweed, which your pix reminded me of. Have you been to Holy Island? The Lindisfarne Castle? Those are great places to experience the incredible feeling of being tied to something much greater than yourself. Peace and contentment. I was surfing frugal and simple living sites on the net and was blessed to come across your blog which I have been reading for the past month. I could be your Grand, and am so proud of you. To be your age and to have found the important things in life so young, I applaud you and your will-power to go for your goals. I would love to get to know you better and some of the background that set you on your journey. I have only been to the UK once, in 2002, a journey I will never forget: Beautiful country, cherished people. Keep on striving for those wise goals. I hope to hear from you. Pat
Hi Pat
I actually live in London, but am trying to explore more of England at the weekends. These pictures were taken in South West England!
I hope you enjoyed your trip to the UK, I agree it is a very special place! I’ve never been to Berwick upon Tweed, Holy Island or Lindisfarne Castle! I’ll put them on the list
Thanks for your encouraging comment, it warms my soul to hear such kindness!
