So today was day 2 of the vegan & September goals challenge! It was easier than yesterday which is certainly a good direction to be heading in! I did spend today as I enjoyed a glass of sangria with friends after work. It was a lovely way to switch off from work, enjoy some nicer weather (we sat outside!) and be in the company of friends. I spent £7, meaning I have £3 left in my weekly spends, should last, actually, no, I’ll make it last :0)
Deepali asked about my emergency fund. I currently have £2000 in my emergency account, when I add in the money from the tax man, this will be £2,600. My goal is to have a total of £10,000 in my emergency fund. I think having this money in a safe account means I will always have a good fall back. It won’t be used as a down payment on a house nor will it go towards travel, it will solely be used to cope with loss of job/major emergency. I’d also like to have £1000 in a mini emergency fund which would be used for more minor emergencies like the need for dental work, house repairs etc. Those are the goals related to the emergency fund. I’ll do a post soon on what my financial goals are across the board.
The numbers for today stand as follows:
Daily Speed Walking session: 2/20
Vegan Day: 2/30
No Spending: 1/20
Water 10 glasses, which means I met my daily goal!
In case you’re interested I enjoyed a homemade smoothie for breakfast (with flax seeds), cut up veggies dipped in pumpkin butter and a fruit salad for lunch. Finally for dinner I had almost the exact same meal as yesterday (leftovers) – falafel, rice, salad and grilled veggies! YUMMY!

Just wondering where you’ll be keeping your £1000 emergency mini fund – an easy access ISA?
Hi Sandie, no I never never put emergency fund money in an ISA because when you take money out you can’t put it back in again. I go with a safe easy access account.
I do fill my ISA but that money stays in there!!
I’ll post more about the accounts I’ve chosen soon!
Well done on your progress so far..
great goal! and congrats on making 2 days vegan.
Hi there-so pleased I reached you, I couldn’t access you earlier-I love your posts!! You are such an inspiration to me, reading your posts keep me motivated to try and be as frugal as possible now! Very well done on building up your emergency fund. As I’m still paying down debt, I only have £500 saved-this is in premium bonds, mainly as I don’t want access to it-only in the event of a job loss, it would take care of my immediate outgoings. I certainly won’t be touching it for anything else! Keep up the brilliant work!
Sharon thanks for the compliment. I was getting worried too, thankfully it’s back up!!
WELL DONE for saving £500!!! Will catch up on blogs soon!!
Doh … silly me … of course (re the ISA)!
Good job you know what you’re doing!
