Prior to my decision to spend nothing on non essentials for 6 months, I booked a weekend with relatives. So, the plan this weekend is to visit family Sat to Mon. Original plan was to get early morning train on Sat, which would mean a taxi to the station. Then Saturday upon arrival get a taxi from the train station to where I am staying – family member will be @ work so can’t pick me up. Then I got creative. I had already planned to catch up with a friend for a drink on Saturday as she lives near the relatives. I had a look @ the train times I saw that if I got a train 2 hrs later I could get the bus to the station. Saving £18 on taxi. Then, I thought about how the friend mentioned she would pick me up @ relatives and we would go for a hike in the countryside, since I was going to get a later train I rung her and asked if it was convenient to get me from the train station instead, no problem she said. Saving of £12.
Saving: £18 + £12 = £30
will bring a small card & organic soap for friend as a thank you (I already have these in stock) and pay £1 for the bus
£30 -£1 = £29 saved by simply juggling my train times!
Oh it feels good to have a frugal mind!

I’m impressed by your resourcefulness!
